I guess as always (pre Enterprise, STD) I as a fan of All the shows (except STD), I just wanted a new show about exploration (did not have to be the Enterprise) and hope for the future. I mean after Nemesis, and Voyager all the old villains were part of the Federation. So now we have the wonderful thing of coming up with new villains and story-lines with ships who have crews full of old enemies and feelings. What an amazing time to be a writer of this wonderful Universe. But then we get Enterprise which was not too bad. Got MUCH better towards Season 3. Then CBS cancelled it because the boss at the time did not like Science fiction. Several years later when they needed a big name for their CBS All Access they start back up Star Trek with the horrible STD show. I'm not saying it was not entertaining, but it was so preachy and dark that it was NOTHING like the old Star Trek. Give us a Federation that is a shining beacon of hope for humanity and other non-humans. Give us exploration and fun episodes about new civilizations and cultures. But no we get dark, action scenes, and war. How sad.

You know....lately, I’ve not quite felt myself. Seeing this, seeing an old man step into the role of a much younger one, and doing it’s inspirational.

It does look fun, as a sort of spin off story telling from typical Trek formulas...

I walked down the isle when getting married to a part of the Main Title to First Contact, by Jerry Goldsmith. What Star Trek embodies is timeless, and passes to other generations - the story of a show to help with the story of reality. I’m so happy for this show and appreciate all involved, especially Patrick Stewart for continuing a story we all need.

The vulcans look like the ones from the abrams universe. Maybe this is the prequel to what cause the split in the timeline. Maybe the borg provided the tech for the romulans to time travel.

I hope the look of Picard will be back to the Prime Universe and In the trailers for Picard it looked like the Prime universe was back and not the re, re, rebooted crap of Discovery and Star Trek 2009 aka the Kelvin Universe......but I read on Digital Trends that the producers and other crew from Discovery were involved. I swear if it's like Discovery or the Kelvin timeline I'm finished with Trek.

This has the potential to be SO great, has several signs of being a cash-grab, especially after bringing in Data and 7 of 9. I believe I will just wait till the reviews come in, and not spend my money or time on this.
Sad, because I am a fan of GOOD Star Trek: TOS, TNG, DS9, and all the movies before Abrams seriously damaged the name.

So cool if this special chic was Data’s daughter Lull. 😎- all super enhanced with all kinds of advanced technology from many species (Borg, Vulcan, etc) and Data was taken apart to extract Lull. Either way, TOTALLY looking forward to this new chapter of Star Trek.

After years of Star Trek meaning flashy crap movies filled with lens flares and subpar garbage TV shows, and knowing that this new project was actually going to do something so unforgivably heinous as actually legitimizing Star Trek: Nemesis - _Star_ _Trek:_ _Nemesis_ of all things! - I came into this trailer with a Dislike fully armed and ready. Instead...I'm actually left hopeful. Most impressive, make sure you come through.

Others we hope will return in PICARD: Whoopi Goldberg as "Guinan", John deLancie as Q, Wil "Prof. Proton" Wheaton as "Wesley Crusher", Kate Mulgrew as "Janeway", David Tennant or Matt Smith as you-know-WHO, (those two franchises should have crossed-over a LONG time ago) and Avery Brooks as "Sisko"...

So picard is senile with dementia which should have been cured by now, data has been kept locked in drawer, its obviously a kelvin timeline story, wreaks of std, we have the all powerful mary sue character, and the icing on the cake is picard is a supporting character in his own story.
    Ill pass.

    • TheRogueX
      TheRogueX 15 days ago

Where did you get that he is senile and has dementia? And how is it a Kelvin timeline story? Do you even have any idea what the hell you're talking about? Because you obviously don't. This entire trailer keeps talking about things that happened in the Prime timeline and that would *not* have happened in the Kelvin timeline because everything is so different in it. Either learn the difference between the two timelines or go back under your rock and shut the hell up.

Well - I've finally seen the full trailer for this new "Picard" series, and here's what I think: this is CBS/Paramount's way of "wining back the crowd" in the wake of the dump-on-the-fans nature of "Star Trek: Discovery." And it could work, provided that they don't use it as another opportunity to dump on the fans, yet again. That being said, I find that I am cautiously optimistic about this new series.
Is it possible that The Suits have finally seen the light? Have they finally realized that they can't keep a 50+ year old franchise going by treating the fans like crap, and by treating established canon like toilet paper? Only time will tell.

    • tjc1966
      tjc1966 14 days ago

@Logic Circuits Yes, in all fairness, I did notice that. From my perspective, though, she reminded me more of River Tam from "Firefly" than Almighty Rey. I acknowledge that you do have a very valid point, and there's still every chance that they could still screw this up mightily. On the other hand, they seem to be fully aware of just what Captain Picard means to the franchise, as a whole. After all of the backdraft they caught with their handling of DISCO - to say nothing of how they treated longtime fans - this could be their way of picking up the pieces and rebuilding the brand back to true form. It all boils down to two things: 1) who they pick to run things behind the scenes, and 2) if they've actually learned their lesson, vis-à-vis how you create, package and present the "Star Trek" brand. And as much as I do like "Firefly," classic "Galactica," "Star Wars" and other franchises, that's not how you do "Star Trek;" it's always been it's own unique critter. But Early 2020 is still a good ways off, at this point. Time will tell if they've actually learned their lesson.
