Why I season my pan, and not my steak.
These comments lol 😂 Seems pretty easy to clean once you season it one time and maintain it. I’m excited to get my own moving into my first house coming up.
So it's the Goldilocks of cast iron pans not too hot not too cold wait till it's just right.
Is this video narrated by Merle??
Oil smoking in the oven set off the fire alarms in the whole house. 🙄
Oh it's easy... you only have to cook the skillet first :D
Sounds like a lot of maintenance.
You can also take the pan out "carefully" after 10 mins in the oven and give it another wipe down to remove excess oil, as that is something newbies often have problems with too much oil. then put it back in.
Why I season my pan, not my food.
Do you have to season a brand new one?
@Jason Gordienko it shouldn't, if you get darker spots or so it because you had too much oil left on the pan. Seasoning build up over time with normal cooking btw and the oven thing is just a way to simulate normal use and help build it up quicker when restoring one or when it new to stop it from rusting.
@Calistin well it's already in the oven, guess another coat of seasoning won't hurt
Probably not most of them come preseasoned now like the lodge cast irons pans.
All I do is just use dish soap to clean it after use and then heat it to remove excess water. It's not like my family constantly seasoned and oiled the pan. Don't really need to do it EVERY time. Be a waste of salt for every single time.
Do they use Cast Iron Skillets in Cartoons where a Wife Hits Her Husband with a Skillet? ...
Says cast iron isn’t hard to maintain.... then goes on a 18 step tutorial of how to use it. But it’s really not that much. Just dry it good after you clean it and it’ll be just fine. Trust me.
I don't have time
Can I use coconut oil?
If you are intrested in cast iron skillets you should check : www.ecohindu.com for resonable prices and real cast iron
Can i use vegtable oil?
Can anyone Help me ? Wich recept is that 0:13 ? THANKS ALOT :)
So... I don't own an oven. That's why I thought I'd like a cast iron skillet. Turnes out you actually really NEED an oven before you can even use it... O.o
Naw if you get a lodge cast iron they are preseasoned, the oven seasoning thing is more when you are restoring a pan that has rusted or somesuch. Other than that everytime you cook and add oil, butter etc etc you areffectively seasoning your pan.
holy hell I'd rather just change a pan every 5 years than spend 1 hour maintaing this after every meal
Some people season there meat, some people season there pan, but a true intellectual like myself, seasons the entire refrigerator
Wants to make a steak...5 hours later. Okay the pan is ready
THANKS! Great info!✨😋
Try as I might, I can't tolerate the vocal fry she (and most people nowadays, it seems) talks with. I just couldn't finish watching the vid. How about using your natural voice?? It can't possibly be that most people talk like this!
I love my cast-iron skillet, not only does it help me make delicious foods, but it can double as a personal defense item
I couldn’t hear what kind of oil she said to use if you do t have flaxseed. Anyone get that?
Julie Sanchez canola oil
What if you don't have an oven?????
Yeah.. Im not gonna use a cast iron..
why does my cast iron smoke alot when i cook on it
Reading these comments shows what a bunchbof lazy complaing pussies people are.
All the dumb ass comments, when it comes to frying food nothing beats cast iron. Cornbread and biscuits baked the best in cast iron.
3:15.Cast iron is NOT a good conductor of heat. This is totally untrue.
A real men pan
Got almost every size and shape in iron. Shits glorious.
I'm in love with this women..who is she??? 🥰🥰
What about vegetable oil???
“It’s like loving a good woman: the more u give, the more u get back”. 😂 😆 😝
I purchased 2 cast iron skillets and a cast iron griddle last month. To me, they are totally worth it!! Thanks for the video!
Is rust really safer than teflon? I think teflon is safe enough. I ate quite a bit of it and still alive.
I had a cast iron skillet and I was so expensive to maintain buying oil every mount buying kitchen paper to wipe all the oil putting it in the oven to bake on the oil it was silly
Also do not neglect the outside of the pan. With a lot of use you may not totally clean the outside of the pan leading to a crusty build up over time. I did an Aton Brown in pan steak where you pre heat the pan in a very hot oven then move it to high heat on the stove top to sear the steak. Well....the outside my 60 year old #10 skillet burst into flames. Once the fire was out I pressed on and had nice steak dinner.
My mother & grandmother said to never use soap to clean a cast iron skillet.Excellent video, but please quit raising your voice at the end of a statement unless it's a question.I don't know where that speech pattern came from, but it's totally irritating.
Yes, but what if your house has..... teenagers. 😳
😂 A skillet is like loving a good woman the more you give the more you get back!! 😝
WAYYYY TOO MUCH WORK LMAOO
Wow I will never buy one after being this.
I don't want a good woman that knows how to season a skillet. I want a tall, thin, bad one that smokes, drinks, and goes home to her husband during deer season.
typical woman at the end....."buy me stuff and i put out"
Amazing hunk of metal. So ridiculously simple. It sure brings pleasure to us when it's dinner time. It does magic things in short time. No pan can radiate heat the way a well seasoned cast iron skillet can.
Bacon fat or lard is cheap and way better then flax seed oil
In my German supermarket organic, cold-pressed, pure linseed (i.e. flaxseed) oil is €1.95 per 250 ml. I don't know what you Americans are getting, but it appears you are getting ripped off. Also, that last bit had me laughing out loud :D
Too much wasting oil and salt
"It will last your lifetime" Translation: You will be cleaning it for the rest of your lifetime.
Even if you replaced pans wouldn't you still clean them?
We have to do this for each and every use
SORRY BUT....NEVER USE SOAP ON A WELL SEASONED CASK IRON SKILLET....BOIL WITH WATER, SCRAP OUT OLD MATERIAL, USE SMALL TOWEL( NOT PAPER), REGREASE, SEASON AND BAKE...ITS DONE!
Awesome video, thank you!!
Hahaha! "Like loving a good woman. The more you give the more they give back." Lv it! True for cast iron at least. Since, cast iron, leeches iron and not harmful chemicals.
Follow thee simple rules?!... I bought a CI skillet today and I'm worried after seeing what care it needs.
How can i promote my youtube channel?
"they seem like lots of work"....watch video...."IT'S MORE WORK THAN I THOUGHT!" NOPE NOPE NOPE
The entire comment section is full of confused young people. They don't understand that seasoning a cast iron is not done that often.Cast iron is faster and easier than other pans most of the time. I use two daily.
Doe s it make the food tastier, cuz this seems like a lot of headache
fry bacon or steak , rinse repeat
"Oh so you gotta season it, k""Oh so you gotta preheat it every time, k""You gotta salt clean it, reseason it and reheat it every time? Not ok"
@sorg3ns They're inexpensive yes, but it's quite wasteful. If you cook a lot at home, that's a lot of paper towels and salt used.
@WernerBKerner the only difference being kosher salt and paper towels, both are relatively inexpensive
@crayolasun Ok, but even if you're fine with the extra work, imagine all the extra salt, paper towels oil and heat you need for maintainance.
Sabrina Benítez It’s a lot of work, granted. But with proper cleaning and seasoning, they can last forever. I have a cast iron pan that’s over 100 years old. It looks brand new and it cooks brilliantly still!
Sabrina Benítez I have four cast iron skillets and I preseason my skillets only once.
cast iron isnt a lot work, clean when hot and oil, no chemical coating to make non stick.
You know nothing about cast iron lol stick to using pioneer women pans
can you cook a chicken dinner with this type of pan ?
Why on earth would you season the bottom of a pan? So the stove tastes good?
Ooof.. at the beginning when you used soap, you let me down tasty
People will never know how great they are until they actually try. Once the pan is seasoned, it’s so easy to maintain and use everyday.
Is that pubg pan 😂
Why do you put oil on it after your done washing it?
I'll stick to the toaster thanks.
Be sure to tell everyone to disconnect their smoke detectors when seasoning. House full of smoke. But worth it.
I'm gonna watch this video again in 2060 when I retire... I don't think I have that kind of luxurious time to own a skillet!
sounds like cast iron is not meant for me then. im way too lazy for all of this lol
