or just buy a good pan with satin black enamel, it looks and feels the same as raw cast iron but stuff does not stick, its rust proof and you just need to give it a gentle wash with water an a little soap after cooking. I cook with cast iron from Le Creuset

An if you don’t treat this pan like a good woman, you get an old rusty old hag!! So keep buffing you’re pan it works both!!

Cast Iron skillets I have a couple which are like 80 years old from my grandparents use them quite often. I see lots of people saying they're a pain. Well if not used correctly they can be. Now I'm not saying I dont use modern day pans cause I use teflon but cast iron isn't that bad.

Actually here is some truth straight up. No need to clean the pan after cooking. Just leave it and let the oils of the last dish settle into the pan. The next time you use it, heat up the pan with the old shit in it till it all starts to melt, and then bring it to the sink and let your water from the tap get medium warm, so you can put some of that water in there and scrub it with a brush slightly. All the old shit will go away, yet the oil will settle and remain deep within. Return to stove, heat up till water evaporates, and then add some fresh oil before cooking again. Works like a hot damn, perpetually seasoned. It would be such a waste of paper towel to follow your procedure each time after use.

They really are not allot of work. My mother and I used ours daily, and only seasoned it less than once a year. Nothing sticks to it, and most of the time a dry payer towel cleans it. No water. Just wipe it out, and it looks like hers when your done. Shiny and clean. 😊

Okay stop. Step one never wash cast iron with any type of soap. It's good for the long term health for the cast iron. Other then that you did a great job.

cooking with cast iron does take commitment and dedication but it is oh so good. When it is well seasoned, you can't go wrong. I've had mine for 15 years and it's the best cooking utensil ever.

I've got a huge set of cast iron skillets. Someone told me that you can't use cast iron skillets on glass top stoves. Is that true??? I miss my old skillets. BTW, I joined your channel.

I’m sorry to say, but this video makes owning a cast iron pan super over complicated. Owning cast iron is super easy. Takes maybe a minute more than cleaning a regular non stick pan. Make the pan hot, put hot water in the pan and scrub. Dry it off and throw it back on the stove and when it gets hot just a tiny bit if oil to it and spread it around. There ya go. You’re good to go again.

This shit is over the top. Have had a cast iron most of my life and never put that much work into it. Just clean it normally after you finish cooking and put a bit of cooking oil on it to stop the rust before putting away.

    Daily Encouragement
"... And the Lord smelled a soothing aroma. Then the Lord said in His heart, 'I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake,
    ...although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth;
...nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done. ' " (Genesis 8:21)

Are you meant to season your pan everytime you clean and store it after cooking? Surely not

    • Joshua Fiddler
Joshua Fiddler 3 days ago +1

ZakkkyB you don’t have to, the “seasoning in the oven” process is a kick-start to a non-stick surface. Your pan can also be seasoned just from cleaning it as you use it over and over:) the nonstick will come

    Love cast iron cook ware.
The effort it takes to maintain is nothing compared to the quality of the product.
Gotta clean and season my pans now that I'm watching this.
Always let it completely dry and cool before storing!!!!
