"They're Off to Secondary" - "Your Love Keeps Lifting Me" adapted by the Marsh Family

- This song has always been a hugely joyful and hopeful one for us, and is guaranteed to make us smile and dance. It is a good kind of infectious - which some may even remember from the movie Ghostbusters 2 (sung by Howard Huntsberry) as a force to combat New York’s evil miasma and get ‘positive energy flowing’. It was written by Gary Jackson, Raynard Miner, and Carl Smith, and originally recorded by the amazing Jackie Wilson in 1967, who we’ve (loosely) modelled our version on.
Our inspiration has been the first relaxation of a very long winter lockdown in the UK. The kids are finally back in primary/secondary schools after months stuck at home. This means a chance to actually get some work done, to get them grounded again with some steps towards ‘normal’ life, and soon they’ll get to see grandparents for the first time since September 2020. It is dedicated to the teachers (and fellow lecturers) who have crawled towards an Easter vacation break that has never been more deserved and needed.

I have loved watching your videos, we only had lockdown here for about 8 weeks and I found it hard. I can imagine what its been like over there. Love that you have made use of the time improving your kids musical ability. It would be great if you could still post the odd video.

@Simon N I had to google all those terms, compression and hard panning, all I know is the Marsh family lift me higher and higher as theyve done for so many people for the past year, and without them, the world would have been a much much poorer place. I find them joyful and poignant and thought provoking all at once, You could be right with the technical jargon but Im not sure many people here would notice a compression or a hard pan if it came up to them and bit them on the leg, but I do understand that technical people are focusing on different things from pure pleasure and enjoyment and thats what the Marsh family epitomise for me.
Yeah, way too much compression on the vocals, and hard panning is never a good thing - I would guess Mr Marsh is going through a learning process - but in the spirit of the context, who cares!? It's brilliant!
WOW! The amount of musical talent in this family is amazing. Except the dog. The dog add cuteness, but really needs to start playing bass. I'm just saying.

Let me add one more thing Marsh Family,This virus made one Positive thing about it.And its the only Positive out of it,It Brought the Marsh Family out to the rest of the world.It has shown how you as a Family can work on a song and bring it and sing it and explode and then kind of die too,but you never rested and wanted to rebuild and take another level,and you did,never rested and build on a popular song and change the lyrics and it work.It work and you got it right,and you as a Family have the voice as harmony goes,if the people don'''t get it,like even the BeeGees,You need a Manager, cause you guys are going to be big.Very Big.
