I think this is great! You can use free parts lying around the workshop. Then re-use old or broken belt sander belts. All free. And re-use over and over... almost like free energy, LOL... You got my thumbs up!

They commercially make these, they are called flap wheels, duh !!! The time you wasted making that, you could have worked and made fifty bucks and bought five of them.

  • artistpw

I might have used a drill press to make sure the holes drilled were completely straight. This would be nice to make another version with the fans facing the other direction. That's the problem with most rotary sanders only abrading from one side.

I love this channel because it only has a minimum of tools necessary. No hugely expensive mills and lathes etc. Only the basics that a basic woodworker might have in his workshop. All that expensive stuff can come later if you feel that woodworking really is your metier.

I don't know how much a sanding flap wheel cost where you live. Nor do I know how much you charge for your time, but where I live
they cost about $10.00 for a pack of 3 with that being on the cheap side, and I start out at around $65.00 an hour an up for my time.
So thank you for your effort, and a little advice if I may. Perhaps you should consider making some clamps. Preferably clamps that
allow you to secure your work piece; especially while you do chisel work. πŸ€” Just a thought...
Then I may not 😱 cringe so much if I watch another one of your videos. maybe you could make a sign... saying something like
πŸ–"Arrive With 10 Leave With 10!" 🀚 😎 πŸ‘ Anyways you get the jest.
Have a prosperous an safe 2019!
