Wait ....what Thomas chili gives you the hickups? Lordy, my first taste of Thai food as a child gave me the hickups. Loved the heat, had a hard time swallowing but wouldn't stop eating. Discovering new Chili's sometimes does it again, rarely. Amazing tasty video

Are the package s on the table free to customers who are buying an entree?

    • Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena
Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena  Year ago

Nope the packages are the nasi lemak bungkus- it's very common for them to be sitting on the table for easy access as a quick snack or in addition to other food you may have ordered. It's one of the simplest meals you can get in Malaysia, it's very cheap and is often eaten on the go. Coconut rice, chilli, boiled egg, fried anchovies, peanuts and sometimes cucumber. Such a great combo! Hope you enjoyed this food hunt SaRaH Kruch! Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena

Hi Nicole Waithira. Exciting that you're heading to Malaysia! Where will you be visiting? We're sadly not there at the moment. English is very widely spoken so you will be fine on that front but it would be helpful to learn a few questions in bahasa melayu to ask if meat is in a dish etc. Also there is lots of incredible Indian food which will often be at least vegetarian but will often be vegan also. Have an amazing trip and let us know if you need more info! Cheers, Thomas 😀

Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena thanks for replying :) I would love to see how many vegan options are available street good wise as I'll be in Malaysia in 2 weeks and have no idea what to expect. Maybe you can do an video reccomending some vegan stalls and how to comunicate with vendors and explain what foods vegans can't eat? Love your channel by the way!😄

Hi Hakeem Kimboy. Yep this Nasi Lemak is a bit more expensive than the norm. It's very, very well known though and based on the amount of people there eating it people are more than happy to pay the price. It was very good and I'd more than happily pay the price again for it. Thanks for watching this video and we hope you enjoyed it. Cheers, Thomas 😀

as a Pahang origins, i am so glad n honored to see this. your reactions to each food really made me crave for all those though i can get it easily 😂😂. btw since we were neighbor to Terengganu, we have been very fond of Terengganu foods like keropok lekor & sata like it was originally from Pahang. 😁😁
for the nasi lemak, was it shot at Restoran Zaman?
wanna tell you that the nasi lemak there is one of thr best nasi lemak ever in my life!
when i was a kid, my late father who has some business matter in Kuantan will always returned home (2hr away from Kuantan) with nasi lemak from there. or whenever we went to Kuantan, he will always brought us to have breakfirst there. what a memory...💖💖💖
btw for the Puding Raja, i dont see any cashew nuts there. i usually bought one with the nuts. its tastier.
next time, you can try go to Temerloh, Raub or Kuala Lipis for more traditional Pahang food. its heaven there! 😍😍😍

It was indeed Restoran Zaman- we loved their nasi lemak- it was SO tasty!! We love how many of the eateries in Malaysia have such a long history and generations of families are able to enjoy the same food. We will have to keep an eye out for a Pudding Raja with cashew nuts- sounds delicious. We're looking forward to exploring more of Pahang soon- such a great food state! Hi Zul, hope you are well mate?! The nasi lemak is probably the most popular one in the area and perhaps the price has been set to reflect that. We had no problems paying it though as it was very sedap! Hope you enjoyed this one, thanks for watching and commenting mate. Cheers, Sheena

Hi mdz fr. Yep it's more expensive than the norm. It's very famous though and the place is very popular so I think they've put the price up because of that. I would happily pay the price any time also because it was a very, very good nasi lemak. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Thomas 😀

  • MOHD NASRI BIN MAT NASIR

Many foods in Kuantan,Pahang have common taste with foods in Terengganu. Keropok for example is one of them. Specifically the foods in Kuantan are similar to the ones from Terengganu. Many of Kuantan old residents mostly originated from Terengganu. So they carry the recipes and spread them in Kuantan. However the further south and west you go, you will see the differences and varieties. The royal pudding is not the traditional Pahang cuisine. It based on the influence of British cuisine. It is famous because of the recipe is brought out to the common people by the royal family themselves. Before that, nobody knew about the royal pudding even among the Pahang people.

search for Kak Nik Ikan Patin located in Pantai Dalam (KL area). the taste is on par(the best for me) with the one at Pahang, but quite spicy. I heard the chef and the fish originates from Pahang btw. They also prepare various kind of dishes, i could say 30+.

Hi! It is such a great dish! A really interesting taste and such a cool way for durian to be used. Even in Malaysia it's not a super common dish but you do see roadside durian sellers with tubs of the fermented durian for sale which is neat. Differently a great one to try if you ever get a chance! Thanks so much for watching this one and we hope you enjoyed it! Cheers, Thomas 😀
