He committed suicide because he was losing his mind and the disease in his brain, lewy body dementia, was causing severe depression. His head wasn't right. And whatever lucid part was left knew it was going to get much worse.

    • Gary Blocker
      Gary Blocker 8 months ago

Right! Lewy Body Dementia took my dad many years ago. Among the last things he said to me: "I know that I hallucinate. But, I just never am sure when I'm lucid and when I'm not." If Robin was approaching that, nobody should want him to have prolonged such agony.

I am sure he was on stuff around this time that probably early on fueled his genius as shown here. But he was still plenty funny all the way to just before he died. But just like the big massive Stars in our Universe. They burn and run through their fuel much quicker and die far earlier than our own smaller Sun. I think it's a good comparison for Robin. He did burn himself out I think. And the combination of Parkinson's and Louie Body disease probably likely made it so he was unable perform anymore when he had all these financial pressures from his last divorce and other things. I even heard his heart valve was starting to fail him. Think it was like a perfect storm hitting him. Very sad. Nobody even close to replacing a genius talent like him.

CHIPS issued a warning not to make fun of DUI ). any carsonoligists. great job by robin.

interesting to see him at diff points in his career. here his insecurity about himself and nervousness is IMO so glaring...if you see him on later carson shows he's clearly much more confident and self-assured, despite whatever doubts he might still have or "demons" he was fighting. he also used some routines here that he later used in his "live at the met" show and they're clearly just in their infancy here, far better in the show.
