  • The Young Turks discuss Donald Trump's win in the 2016 New Hampshire Republican Primary Election. The media is kind of avoiding it but Trump killed it tonight. He won handily over his opponents. The TYT panel of Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, Ben Mankiewicz (What The Flick!?), and John Iadarola (ThinkTank) discuss. Do you agree? Let us know in the comments below.

I just started believing that Trump may actually be able to become POTUS. The fanatically liberal Huffington Post has gone from only covering Trump in their entertainment section to putting an article on their front page as to why a Trump Presidency may really be possible.

why does people don't get that if the election was by popular vote every thing would change? .. imagine a Trump supporter in CA, they Know that Hillary will win the state for sure, so why they go out and vote?, Trump didn't campaign in CA, NYC which have the Majority of votes, He lost CA by 3 millions!!
sorry, you can't say Trump lost the popular vote, HE won fair and square by the system of the election, and if the System changes every thing will change>
and America isn't a country to elect presidents by popular vote!! .. it is a UNITED STATES. imagine European Union countries make election for Europe president, it will be something like Electoral collage. the same in America, the Election comes by states not by the total popular votes.

Yes it does, Hillary won the popular vote and there is still time to convince the electoral college to not allow a con artist to capture the Presidency. There is already a growing movement of Americans working on this.

Te following IS A PSYCHIATRIST REPORT OF A NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY.
This is a description of DONALD TRUMP...
    --------------------------------
A personality disorder in which a person is excessively preoccupied with power, prestige and vanity. Mentally unable to see the destructive damage they are causing to themselves or others. IT IS A CLUSTER B PERSONALITY. PSYCHOLOGIST CALL THIS DISORDER THE :"DARK TRIAD. Callousness, manipulative behavior and psychopathy.
---- Has exaggerated self image, lack of empathy and trouble with forming relationships. deep feelings of entitlement and grandiosity.
-----Constantly berating others. Allows no one to talk over them and constantly interrupts other people in a conversation.
Jeers people into hatred, which feeds into this lack of empathy they have for others.
------Never takes no for an answer, without lashing back in a violent manner.
Enjoys causing division and hatred among the masses, which feeds the desire to be in control of everything and everyone.

I wold not have voted for Obama in a million years.
However, Trump has severe issues with himself.
You want a man like this to run your country.
He is making promises just like politicians do, but when he gets in do not think all your wishes will happen like overnight.
He is making promises that will take years and years.

I remain astonished at the consistent misunderstanding of those individuals who consider themselves an expert on the American voter. You just do not seem to fully understand how completely sick and tired the American people are of political bullshit and the elitist establishment. Cenk is right, John is blinded by his bias.
I know Trump seems extreme to us but what we judge as extreme is mainstream in the republican base, Trump is exactly in the middle of the GOP base: Bush and Rubio with the establishment to the centre, Cruz with the religious/conservative zealots to the right.
Of course if Kasich or Cruz or Carson (less with rubio or bush that have a more pro-establishment base) drop out some of their voters will go with Trump, there is no reason to believe that they are not sick and tired of the incompetent corrupt politicians, that they don't want to "win" again against an establishment "looser" guy.
John said that 1/3 of republicans will never vote for trump, but the other 66.6% will !!
And the independents will !! And he doesn't even need 50%+1 of the votes !!
John is wishing Trump away, but he ain't gonna go anywhere. He is number one by 20 point and He will win the nomination.

+debussy843 _"Do such polls even exist?"_
      According to you, they do:
_"the poll you just cited is like 20 points off numerous _*_other_*_ polls!!!!"_
You were referring to a deviation between Trump's support in one poll versus his support in other independent polls, and so was I. The Reuters poll you linked to is talking about Trump's lead over the nearest candidate within the given poll. I asked you to show a 20 point deviation between polls, not because I think it's relevant in testing my hypothesis, I just know you can't. There are no recent polls that show differing results by that magnitude. That's not to say that my hypothesis is correct by default. Rather, it only shows that your point was misguided at best, and fabricated at worst.
_"Again, are there even just Cruz-Trump polls or was that a red-herring???"_
Really? Your incredulity is ridiculous. I both quoted *_and_* linked to a poll that does just that. The real red-herring here is you talking about comparisons between polls in the first place. In specific regards to my hypothesis, the more useful test is an intra-poll comparison where the only variable you change is who you can vote for. That's precisely what the poll I linked to did. That's also why your HuffPost link is irrelevant. It doesn't really matter how Trump compares to other polls by considering only the full pool of candidates. All that matters is how the people shift their votes within the same poll after they are required to make a choice in a heads-up race against Trump.
_"I accused you of not providing a hypothesis on Feb 16."_
I gave my hypothesis a few days before when I said:
_"The point is that the other Republicans are not currently taking votes from Trump; they're diluting the rest of the vote amongst each other."_
In my next post after that, I clarified that the diluted vote I was referring to was the establishment vote. I didn't explicitly call it an hypothesis, nor should I have needed to. Nevertheless, that's what it was then, and that's what it is now.

_"Seems your "hypothesis" and predictions are in transit. Notice how on the 19th, you're calling the event of consolidation a prediction yet on the 16th it was the hypothesis?"_
You're reading that 16th statement incorrectly. If you were to break it into two sentences, it would read: I offered a prediction based on the hypothesis. The prediction is that establishment votes consolidate. The hypothesis was left unstated in that particular cherry-picked quote, but it is the same as it was when I first said it: the other candidates are diluting the establishment vote.
Consider any confusion about what my hypothesis is/was put to rest. I told you what it is, and I clarified and re-clarified, so I have no interest in hearing an argument about what you think it is to the contrary, or whether or not I have one at all. Any further argument that doesn't accurately address the substance of that hypothesis will be completely fruitless, and particularly childish on your part.

"Please, cite the other polls that ask how people would vote in hypothetical heads-up competitions that show 20 point differences."
What are you even talking about???? Do such polls even exist, or this another one of you "since it doesn't exist, technically I can't be wrong" moments????
I was mocking your outlier, but huffington post does a better job here: www.huffingtonpost.com/arnold-steinberg/cbs-poll-vs-wsj-nbc-poll_b_9264952.html
      Here's 20+ poll result.
      www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-trump-idUSMTZSAPEC2IPVDVGZ
Again, are there even just Cruz-Trump polls or was that a red-herring???
I accused you of not providing a hypothesis on Feb 16.
You on Feb 16: "I offered a prediction based on the hypothesis that establishment votes consolidate. The observably testable prediction is that the establishment vote would then exceed Trump's."
You on Feb 19: "Hypothesis: The votes of those who are inclined to support an establishment candidate is being split among the multiple establishment candidates.
Prediction: If the hypothesis is true, then as establishment candidates drop out, their votes will tend to consolidate behind the remaining establishment candidate."
Seems your "hypothesis" and predictions are in transit. Notice how on the 19th, you're calling the event of consolidation a prediction yet on the 16th it was the hypothesis?

You: _You attacked my poll which put him and 44% for being a "massive outlier" yet you already know the poll you just cited is like 20 points off numerous other polls!!!!_
Me: _Now, this is only one poll, so _*_I'm nowhere near calling it it definitive_*_, but it certainly lends _*_plausibility_*_ to the premise of my hypothesis._
Please, cite the other polls that ask how people would vote in hypothetical heads-up competitions that show 20 point differences.
You: _"For example, if I say about "if Golden State wins the first three games against the Cavaliers, the Cavaliers will give up in the 4th game and lose the series in straight sets""_
      That's *_not_* what I'm doing.
*_Hypothesis:_* The votes of those who are inclined to support an establishment candidate is being split among the multiple establishment candidates.
That's *_not_* a prediction. It's a statement. Now, that statement may be true, or it may be false. You need to test it by making a prediction.
*_Prediction:_* If the hypothesis is true, then as establishment candidates drop out, their votes will tend to consolidate behind the remaining establishment candidate.
*_Test:_* Ask poll respondents how they would change their votes if it were heads-up between Trump and a given establishment candidate.
You: _"Also, you completely ignored the my stated fact that there are innumerable variables influencing people's decisions... Rubio was reportedly surging in NH until Marcobot occured. You're not taking any variables into account._"
Me: _"Trump supporters aren't going to switch over to another candidate in that situation, so any change in votes must necessarily come from the eliminated candidates and undecided voters."_
I haven't ignored other variables, because there are no other factors to consider. The comparison occurs within the *_same poll_*. People gave their response given the full candidate roster, and then they said how they would vote in various heads-up matches. The *_only_* thing that changed was who was available to support, Trump vs Cruz, or Trump vs Rubio. No outside event could possibly have an effect because no time ellapsed, and therefore there *_were no_* additional factors affecting people's choices from one point in the poll to another in the same poll.
And again, even *_if_* the hypothesis was not testable, that doesn't mean that it's not a hypothesis. It means it's a bad hypothesis. For example, "invisible, incorpreal undetectable dragons exist," could be a proposed hypothesis, but since there's no testable way to falsify the statement, it's simply a bad hypothesis.

You attacked my poll which put him and 44% for being a "massive outlier" yet you already know the poll you just cited is like 20 points off numerous other polls!!!!
"I think it's fairly obvious that the nomination process itself is the test." HAHAHA! That's what you think qualifies as a testable hypothesis? You need to go back to school. As I said, you just layered one prediction on another. This happens all the time in the sports world. For example, if I say about "if Golden State wins the first three games against the Cavaliers, the Cavaliers will give up in the 4th game and lose the series in straight sets" (and I'm only randomly using basketball as an example but such predictions are common in many other sports), that is a prediction. That's all you've done. Layered one prediction on another. Now, yes, my prediction would most likely to come true, but it's still not a hypothesis. The conditions of the game can never be recreated and tested. Me, simply being correct at the end of the series would not make it a hypothesis.
Also, you completely ignored the my stated fact that there are innumerable variables influencing people's decisions. "it wouldn't be difficult to poll likely voters as to who they would support in a hypothetical heads up scenario against Trump." Rubio was reportedly surging in NH until Marcobot occured. You're not taking any variables into account.

It's stupid to say that Trump does good with "Moderates" and not with "Conservative". Conservative means today that you support Isreal, foreign useless wars, economic liberalism and pro-life stances. That's stupid. Trump is the real candidate that is right wing. That stands for nation, he puts America first. That's how a conservative should. It's also stupid to claim that Trump supporters are stupid when the votes of jeb, cruz, rubio etc. are literally voting for the establishment, not for their nation.
