    For those who arent asian, the Kris was a dagger with a wavy edged blade that snapped of when you stabbed it in something, leaving the handle. Also, the custom was that a person would decorate the knife as richly as he could, so he could exchange it to get him out with ransom.

    @7:10 Flamberge, dude. It's called a flamberge :)
    A zweihander literally translates as a two-hander. The first time you hear about zweihanders is, I think, in the late 15th century, and it refers to a larger and heavier longsword capable of breaking through pike formations and ripping riders off horses.

  • Y&T Drums
    Y&T Drums 7 months ago

    Its called "KERIS" here in java (Indonesia)
    Its an old traditional weapon. if you know, every indention patern of keris have a different hystorical symbol and different name.
    And all keris alwyas have odd indention paterns, starting from 3, 5, 7, 9 to 11 (normally).
    and the wooden holder also have an symbol to identify what type of the keris.
    I have a very old damascus patern keris with 11 indention, if doesnt goes wrong its forged at majapahit era.
    However you did a great job Alec!!! keep doing your awesome art of works. you are da man!!!

    Alec I absolutely love you, but what you meant to say was a flamberge, Zweihanders were German great swords of unbelievable and extreme weight and size, the Flamberge was a traditional โ€œflame bladeโ€ pattern used as a long sword or small sized great sword. The Kris is another type of flame blade in the sense of a dagger, or dirk :)

    Good call with the grinder safety tips. I see e guard off way too often in my comings and goings. I don't even see why someone would waste time removing it in the first place. Grinder discs at full speed is as good as a grenade when they go off.

    yes it's called a sewaihander, or you know, a zweihรคnder which should be pronounced tsvaihaender (two hander). doesn't matter either way since the zweihรคnder doens't have a wavy blade. it may have a bit of a saw cut on part of it.
    a "wavy zweihรคnder" is a flambard or flammenschwert (flame sword)
