I totally get it that a lot of people on here don’t like these shows. You’re never going to please everyone. But I’m interested as to why people who hate the format/Gervais/his guests, come back to listen to every episode and continually moan about how much they hate it. Why don’t you just stop listening to it? I’m honestly curious. I personally love these shows and I’m guessing other people do considering this one has currently got over 10200 views. But the majority of comments are just complaining about how it’s not the same as the good old days. If that’s how you feel, why not just listen to the old stuff? Life’s too short to be seeking out content that is definitely going to disappoint/annoy you. Anyway, I’m off to eat some deep fried laundry. :o)

This new character Ricky's doing is so good!
It's just like Brent - the complete lack of self-awareness, the sycophancy, the narcissism - but for the new era.
It must be such a huge writing challenge to come up with new ones of these each week. I guess the great bit where he repeats the same old stuff about twitter and outrage culture (with no irony! perfect) writes itself, but all the hilariously banal stuff he writes for his guests must be quite time-consuming. Perfectly acted tho - the guy playing Stephen Knight is so good. He really sells it as if he thinks these thoughts are original! And he makes him so hateable to boot.
Brilliant.
Can't wait for the next episode.

No idea who, but I'll give it a go.

At last ... some new guests that Ricky can ask the same questions everyone gets asked, briefly to find out what they think but primarily so that he can tell them (and us again) his ideas about comedy. Even though his path to success is unique (doing it at nearly 40) and bypassing the normal small gigs and not having the bad experiences. I can't wait to hear those stories again.

I found this whole podcast offensive, when is the next one.

2. Take Boyle's joke about John Smeaton kicking a flaming terrorist and expand on it as if this joke has never been done before.

Daniel Sloss was excellent. Actually funnier than Ricky (who repeats himself every fucking show these days). Sorry Rick, but it’s true...also true that I listen to a lot of your stuff, but you don’t have to keep giving us the canned lines that you’ve clearly slaved over...or am I running into lines of fire here and asking why are you shooting at me?!

Just starting to listen to this but let me guess they talk to death about comedy already discussed in the last 50odd episodes. At least monkey news was different every week

Blimey!...this bloke Ricky Gervais seems to have lost it...big time!

I still think when Gervais wrote the words "nigger" and "paki" into The Office, he was just doing it to be subversive with a cheeky grin, rather than purposely trying to make some social comment about Brent's narcissism.

My 5 cents on the milkshake thing, cause it's interesitng: It's humiliation. Facism 's allure is strength, authority and power. Mockery is the strongest tool against it. Personally I'd prefer to mock them with something different than a milkshake but it's hard to deny the effectiveness. Debate isn't always an option. You can have the best arguments but it's all for nothing if the other side is not willing to listen. Cheers!
