How The 'Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark' Monsters Were Created | Movies Insider

  • Published on Aug 8, 2019
  • The popular children’s books “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” have hit the big screen, thanks to Guillermo del Toro. The chilling illustrations that defined the Alvin Schwartz books were made by practical-effects company Spectral Motion. INSIDER’s Joe Avella visited the team in Los Angeles to find out how they brought the monsters to life.

Literally, I watched halfway into the movie and I wanted to leave once The Pale Lady came up, lol. I didn't want to see Chuck go and disappear. Neither did I want to see Auggie go either, tell me if I'm spelling it right. Anyways, 9/10 for the movie! It was very nice with all the details they did with the monsters. They were very creative and made a good choice with the makeup. It makes the monsters look pretty creepy. But I did really like the movie once I saw it. My least favorite part was when the red spot came up. And also at the end when I saw the picture with Stella, Auggie, and Chuck.

This is a question I've always wanted to ask, has the person filling this movie ever gotten scared by the people wearing the costumes?I
I can just imagine.a jump scare, and someone on the set screams and ruined the shot XD

I feel like using real suits/makeup makes it easier on the actors too. It's a lot easier to look scared of a monster like this chasing you then a man in a green suit
