stupid enough you find enough I was with my dad at work I was surprised how many times we could find the empty parking lot and 2.3 stupid people decide to mark near the ramp especially where there are tight parking lots like asking to take the knife or hammer and scratch them car or cut their tires or break their windows and there are also smart people who even park in the ramp simply in the truck ramp
Hey Alex, unless they recently changed those KWs have a release in the sidebox for the sleeper door. So you can just put your groceries or laundry directly into the sleeper area. When you open the sidebox reach in and up to your right and on the inside wall you'll feel a small lever with a knob. Pull down and the sleeper door will pop open. You may have to give the door gentle encouragement the first time if you have never used it before with a screwdriver or key. Once you open it a few times it opens easily. I put lithium grease in all my locking mechanisms to keep them smooth.
What a waste of money. Water is free.
I recommend the 7 gallon water storage container they sell at the sporting goods section of Walmart instead of the individual gallons that can leak or break very easily. Had the same one running 4 years now
Your truck doesn’t have a manual transmission?.. That’s not a real truth then.
“This is what it’s like to go grocery shopping as a drunk driver”
Gets me every time
That’s exactly what I think he says every tine
@Micah wow, nobody asked
@Divine Light Fuck yeah brother
@Calamazi did you just duck yeah at DUIing??
"LIGHTHEADED PEOPLE" ARE THE REASON I STRADDLE MULTIPLE PARKING SPOTS AT AN ANGLE.
I swear, people block you in on purpose.. that's why I always look to situate myself where I have a backup plan if I do get trapped. Also I try to make it hard for tow trucks to be able to get in front of my truck whenever possible ( you know, in case your 20 minutes run into the store turns into a power-tripping manager calling a tow truck and reporting you've been parked there for 5 days).
Bleibe me my fahrer used permanent market on there cars but if it happend to me i just cut the tire and call a truck that someone didnt move the car in a long time so he has to get back his car and repair it
@Johnny Waffles fair point, I forgot about that :P
@Neovo903 they have heavy duty tow trucks for that exact reason
I dont think a tow truck will be able to move a semi...
@Reed Pratt Yeah and I'm sure all these cases of people break checking semis are really misunderstandings and they were trying to um... well can't quite think of a good reason honestly.
I'm by no means a trucker but I operate a mobile crane. My boss and I will go to a store or somewhere for lunch and the sheer amount of times weve been blocked in by people who had much better parking options is astonishing.
@Brian Perfitt "to move the car"? I would have picked them up and "parked" them on the roof of the store!
Cute pfp
Just bring a jack and blocks and put their vehicle up on the blocks
@Brian Perfitt funny enough every time it happens I joke about throwing a couple straps under their car and moving it with the crane
Did you use the crane to move their car? I would have put their car in a messed up situation.
Watching this content gave me an unspoken respect for truckers while I’m on the road. If they turn I try to give them as much space as I can when I’m on their inside. When they’re on the highway I make sure I give them plenty of room to merge
You do a wonderful job at giving people an idea of what it's like to do what you do. I can't imagine having to drive a big truck like that every day.
It seems really cool to drive across the country, but also miserable
@Nick Maharney Kudos to you but most whom I’ve spoken with hate OTR. It’s much better to do dedicated or local.
@Twin_Turbo Don’t think that’s what I said. But from aspects truck driving is not a healthy profession. Not mentally(high stress, no proper work life balance), emotionally (life balance and being isolated for so long-introvert or not) physically definitely not and also not good for liability (one mistake and you could be in jail for decades)
@AT you really think someone can’t enjoy what they do for a living huh😂
I loved driving, hated getting paid 1/2 of what the guys were paid, hated the hours and bs pickung up and dropping off loads. Scheduling time for shower, laundry, grocery shop, etc. Traffic in northeast and hardly any truckstops up there....
Maybe some stores would let you use the back loading area (for semi truck deliveries) if the store manager is nice and the store is not receiving a delivery at the time you are shopping.
@Flynn they can toe truck with the van still hooked up on the truck.
@K.G.B. no however i have ties to it major ones too
@Maxine Wulf Are you actually an East German like from the German Democratic Republic?
@Maxine Wulf Smh how do you think semi trucks that break down get to a mechanic bay. Of course they can tow a semi.
Tip from a fellow rook, talk with your dispatcher when you do a 34 hour reset and remain a bobtail or call the local Walmart, Publix, Kroger etc. And ask if they have a dock door open that they aren't using. Most places have no issue allowing you to park at a dock door to finish your shopping. Also some Midwest Walmarts have truck parking available and if all else fails, use Uber grocery shopping; if available. Staf safe bud.
thank you, it's good to help people be aware of how difficult things can be for truckers. reminders are great! be safe & well.
This lifestyle seems so “cozy”. I’ve spent a lot of time alone incarcerated and this just seems so perfect for me
@Kalbex 88 I'm with cr England and i hate this job but had no issues with their training and it was enough and through both the school and the over the road with a trainer, thought me everything i needed to know, and i was on my own after a 6 weeks.
It's not, believe me it's boring af! Hopefully I'm getting out of it soon.
Just dont do one of those 3 week schools, its not enough time to learn everything. Also don't start leasing a truck. Get some experience before you add in the potential stress
Many trucking companies hire felons (if the offense is not drug or alcohol related or violent), so if you're interested you should go for it. Some companies will pay for your schooling (approx $6000) if you agree to work for them for a year. Being used to being alone definitely works in your favor.
If you do decide to get your CDL and drive, stay away from Swift, Werner, CR England, and I wanna say JB Hunt. Those bottom feeding carriers will not teach you how to truly survive in the trucking industry and will let you drive off with minimal training and experience without worrying about your safety. Try looking up some of the best training you can get from other entry level freight companies. You won't get top dollar, but you'll learn the trade and equip yourself with valuable experience that will take you anywhere that pays better.
I’ve been driving a long time and I never go grocery shopping in the truck. I give you a lot of credit for doing some of the things you do as a new driver.
sadly, i've never thought about this before. great reminder to think outside your own lifestyle!

@Lostpockets 222 bye bye your account lol
Huh, it's the official TheXvid account. Odd place to see that.
I just love these little stories about your trucking life, it sounds like a chaotic but fun experience
Actually really interesting. I never once thought about truckers shopping for groceries. I always just assumed they all ate at truck stops
I see some state fair corn dogs in that basket. I wise choice.
Gotta say I love your videos, there's something charming about tuning in to a working class trucker vlog. I'm a custodian so it's great to see
Thank you for doing what you do, I don't think Truckers get the respect or the pay they deserve. I love talking to them on channel 19 on my cb's.
Alex. LOVE your videos. Are you into technology at all? What did you do before trucking? Keep up the videos they keep me sane.
I love these videos of real life as a truck driver. Such a calm voice too.
You know you’re about to fill up all those water bottle 😆 I love your videos. Stay safe out there!
dont ever stop making these shorts!! i really enjoy them
“Light headed people” lmao. Your a good guy keep up the great work
I swear, it’s like people park all the way across to Egypt in the most inconvenient way for truck drivers to park or back into the dock.
Alex the Trucking Guy............. Thank you for sharing this video with all of us. Hopefully, those of us who are watching this video, will be cognizant of your needs as a long haul truck driver. Many times we, as citizens, forget that you not only deliver our grocery to the stores, but buy them as well. On behalf of my family and I, thank you for the work that you are doing. We are grateful. ❤🕊
Tammy Lynn Schulz.
Here's an advice from a dedicated Walmart driver, you can go behind almost all Walmarts or sam's clubs, there's always space to park for a quick shop. Most of them are big enough to accommodate 53' trailers, not all of them though, go to super centers. I read someone said park at the WM dock, please do not do that.
I love these videos of real life as a truck driver. Such a calm voice too.
This is what it is like going shopping as a truck driver. *all the water* and 2 bags of shopping 😂 keep up the good vids man I enjoy them and so do lots of others
Thank you for sharing-I love hearing your dilemmas and stories.
Hey man I saw u have dumbells in the your truck thats amazing respect for keeping fit, I recommend resistance bands I not forcing you to get them however they are amazing for full body work out and they are lightweight & portable for you while you are in your truck.
Check ebay or amazon for them if interested
Alot of grocery stores have posted no truck signs and will boot them, so I look for that first, also, alot of docks are on the sides not in the back of the stores so I usually park near the dock out of the way and it's also not too long a walk.
I see none of this in Finland. Usually there is a large area in the back of a larger supermarkets parkinglot for trucks. You can see 34.5 meter (~113 feet) trucks parked there usually.
“Light headed people” lmao. Your a good guy keep up the great work
I once parked at a Walmart that was next to a school. Big mistake. I had my reset there on a Sunday and it seemed fine. When Monday rolled around... all these kids had parked thier cars right next to my massive semi-truck. This was like my 3rd week of driving. Lol So I had to carefully needle my truck around these kids cars. Boy was that nerve racking.
Well u live and u learn. That's the important part
“Light headed people” lmao. Your a good guy keep up the great work
I love the purple seat cushion. I brought one myself. Their niceee
There should be plenty of space to park near the dock, (delivery area in back). Just try timing your shopping after receiving hours. Also, back in to your spot. That way, you won't have to back out to leave. And if you have to stage at a warehouse waiting to unload, they'll usually let you drop your trailer to go off property briefly. Just be sure to get back on time.
My best friend’s husband is an OTR. So, I kind of have an “in” with what you should or shouldn’t do. This was definitely one of the first things I was taught not to do.
@TM O. Fair question. To never ever block a semi when they are parked. They show us common courtesy when they choose to park out of everyone’s way.
What? Go grocery shopping? Sorry I'm confused 😕
I've been a truck driver going on 34 years and you just showed on the sad part about driving semi truck for a living. We want to go to the box stores because the truck stops charge three to four times more for products and we don't make the money that people think we do.
I had a girl and her boyfriend park directly infront of me with his door so close to my truck he had to climb into the drivers seat to get out. They laughed about it and went into the store. I drove that Prius 8 miles down the road before i got a ticket.
I normally go to Walmart, depending on the location, some are pretty easy to get in and out of.
I always laugh when truckers say “some oblivious driver” as if they don’t realize there is a lot of genuine assholes on this earth who would block you in, or another oblivious road action on purpose, especially in the States.
Always maneuver your truck in 2 getting out, when you arrive. Don't wait till you do your business and expect to get out. Also, all grocery stores can accommodate big trucks, otherwise, they wouldn't have groceries to sell. Now weather you can park there is another story. Lol
@Pulaski I didi say, in my statement that weather you can park there is another story.
"All grocery stores can accommodate big trucks", is technically true, but many of them have enough room to accommodate one or two 18-wheelers _making deliveries_ but there is certainly *not* enough room to accommodate Mr Random Truck Driver shopping for groceries.
The only groceries in the town near where I live that _might_ have room to park an 18-wheeler are ones that are part of a much larger retail development, such as including a movie theater or Lowes, and even then you're depending on there being a row of 10-12 unoccupied parking spaces.
who tf blocks in a semi... id let a bunch of carts "roll" into their car
@Emil David Draghici that's jail time if u don't own the truck or certified mechanic
@Buzoq T.V and you schous grant theyr wish but you also need to repair your truck so be Smart use a hammer you won't have to repair it after making his care have always fresh air
@aaron fields Then don't pick a fight you're not ready to defend scrub
@AKC 007 I’m not reading all that lmao
@aaron fields Are you a truck driver? Do you drive any type of vehicle that is 65 feet long? Have you tried getting out of spot where you closely blocked in by cars that no more than 10 feet long? Also where those same cars could've parked elsewhere away from the truck. How about showing some respect for our truck drivers at the end of the day. We already deal with people on the road that are eager to cut in front, break check, and intentionally causing traffic to slow down all because people are upset at an already slow vehicle. No we do not own the road and no it's right to damage other people property. But if you can't find to respect what we do to get a little rest and peace then don't order shit from Amazon, Wish, Facebook, merchandise from your favorite TheXvidr, USPS, or anything
I am also a truck driver i understand the difficulties and frustrations. Keep hauling and drive safe.
It seems insane to me that our country relies on truck, but doesn't even have proper infrastructure for trucks.
Being a road warrior is a grind god speed brotha
Had to do it several times. If there is any doubt, just drop the trailer and pull forward several feet. If someone parks in front of you, you’ll have room when you back up under the trailer again. 😉
Easy, I always plan grocery shopping at Walmart first thing in the morning when the parking lot is empty
At least in America you can go grocery shopping with a semi... try that in Europe where parking lots are designed for cars the size of a shoebox lol 😅
Many Wal-Mart parking lots are larger than some European countries
Finland is in Europe and I see 34 meter long trucks every time on the parking lot when I go shopping
When you park in places like that try and aim your truck where you don't have to move backwards or directly forward to leave
Nearly every grocery store has a semi-truck delivery groceries every couple of days so yeah most of them have semi-truck access .
I’m honestly jealous of your lifestyle
I was a trucker for a few years.and people kept blocking my trunk in from the front and back. Best thing to do is call the local police.
Welcome to the Club, God Bless you in all your trips
That's the life bro, get in where you fit in. Lol
I have had the same thing done to me with cars blocking me in, I was fortunate enough to have them put their bumpers towards me, GAME OVER, I’m leaving, When a car blocks me in on purpose, I have absolutely no empathy for that person, I am and will move the damn car
Light headed people! Love it! How about "airhead?"
I look out for people like you. I do park way out in the lots because people ram your car, bang open doors on it, scratch it just to be hateful.
"Dammit, I'm blocked in again..."
"Wait a minute! I'm in a Semi!"
*Intermission*
"I plowed through 9 cars and flattened 5 bikes that day."
"It's a miracle nobody died, but a lot of people were surprised."
As a truck driver. I usually would drop my trailer at a truck stop. Put a king pin lock on it and bobtail to the store. Much easier!!!
You got the purple cushion I see my man! How you like it so far Alex?
It's great. I got the ultimate seat cushion. It's squishy. I don't know how else to describe it. It's like sitting on clouds I guess.
Link to it is in the video description if u want
I been seeing your videos we have bought this great one burner stove comes in its own little suitcase. , it uses a propane can that looks like a spray can and your slide this can in the of the stove, you slide the switch down and whala you have a gas stove you adjust the flame and start 🍳. They cost about $20.00 the can is about $5.00. Be safe out there.😊
"I park at the back of the lot. My truck is too nice and people are inconsiderate." - Joe Brodozer, parking in no-man's-land
Yup. I feel your pain. People are clueless. They dont realize you are essentially driving a 6 or 7 story building.
My dad always taught me to try and not park in the back of a parking lot so semi drivers could park if they needed.
Would love to hear about your pay as a driver
My husband is a driver and u r spot on dude
This is a thing I'd for sure have a hard time with, because I'm the kind of guy who doesn't go for groceries until everything is actually GONE. It'll be me who dies of constipation behind the wheel because I said "fuck grocery shopping" and lived on MREs for a month.
Have you ever thought about getting a 5 gallon with a motorized pump usually controlled by a few AA batteries but I think it would really help if you can fit it in your truck
It sounded like you said “this is what it’s like to go grocery shopping as a *drunk driver* 🤣🤣🤣
I know you must really despise the winter and I say that because it always tracks stuff in the vehicle and you seem to keep your truck very clean so it must drive you crazy!
I’m a trucker another secret sometimes works is if your at Walmart they will have docks at the back which usually means they have way more room there so just go stand in the back by the docks
Lol 😆
I love how you tell the stories. "Light headed people" 🤣 😆 😂
Badass sticker brotha 😎 👌 always support for the troops
@ALEX THE TRUCKING GUY that's badass sounds like a great company
Thanks. My company puts that on all their trucks. I'm not a vet but I support them
In parking lots that are public. Always leave your self a way to pull out and back out. Then it takes two knuckleheads to block you!
I have a number of places that I know I can go shopping without issues, and I shop for basically the whole trip. When they park close to me, I take pictures to prove the condition of their vehicle, then I leave a note saying I was sorry, but I had to push their vehicle over so I could get out.
Geez! Thanks for all you do!
All Walmarts get delivery’s, follow the delivery signs to the back there’s always plenty of room in the back of the stores just stay out of the way of the docks. I deliver Walmarts just a little tip.
In a perfect world, not the real world, you would be able to flatten their car into a pancake and leave a note. Calling them lightheaded was so nice.
Dude goes to Walmart where literally every store is made for 18 wheelers to get in and out and complains about having to see if the semi will fit anywhere
I never really thought about that. Now I will be more conscious of a big truck when I see it parked. I’ll take care not to block it in.
I don’t drive a truck but I always think ahead for them and give them plenty of room to do turns and what not
Dude those purple cushions help so much when I’m in the road for 8-16 hours on road
Just do what Hammond did that one Top gear episode where he drove over the blocked parked cars in front of him.
I usually grocery shop in between loads when I only have the bobtail ( The tractor) , Much more conedient and I can pick pretty much any store
Next time you're blocked go back into the store ask for the manager and explain to them you need them to make an announcement on the P.A. to get the car out of your way.
"light headed" hahahaha I'll be using that one
Every Walmart: NO SEMI TRUCKS ALLOWED!!!!!!!
Me: Well screw me then
Thanks for reminding us so graciously!!
You can also call the store and ask if there's parking for semis.
That's what that little compartment is for 🤯All these years
Me ASF I heard: "this is what it's like shopping for groceries as a drunk driver"
I want to know where Alex was raised I need to raise my kids there . seems like he wasn’t around violence has that innocence still. these days kids lose that innocence at 7 years old .
@ALEX THE TRUCKING GUY I live in the whitest neighborhood! Really nice area with my wife and 2 daughters. But I was raised in the worse areas of nyc. And I honestly wish I chose to hang around the right people but I’m 23 so
I stopped hanging around the wrong people because I had my first daughter at a very young age I’m stills friends with people that choose to do wrong but I no longer am around that
I'm from the ghetto. I lived there through middle school. I just hung around the right people. I was raised by great parents.
Love that you got so much water haha I drink a lot of water too also I see those dumbbells!
Alex, tip if you wished to keep your truck as clean as possible inside since you live out of your truck. Drive with out shoes, so pretty much use your shoes boots ect only when you need to step out. Awesome videos BTW
Our local Walmart has a huge lot in the front to where semis and touring musicians can park. It's pretty cool
In my 1st week out i pulled my 53 Ref into the car front of a mall at night . Plenty of room to turn around . Nope I was trapped in the lot designer's maze . AhhhhhhOk as long as you learn .
Luckily I'm doing dedicated Walmart so when I drop my trailer I'll usually take my 30 min and go grocery shopping then
On that t680 you can open the door above your dog door to the sleeper with a lever in the back of the door that you put water in and then you can toss your food and other items in easily and them its easier to organize later
U know u can open your sleeper door's from the outside of the truck so u can put your groceries in easier
"light headed" hahahaha I'll be using that one
Should have pushed those jerks out of the way with your big truck! 🤣
