The fact the salamander was calm shows me it has been treated well almost all its life and that makes me smile.
Don, that makes all of us smile.🖤
@Eduardo Cabanero Racist much, weirdo?
Nah. They have a very low metabolism, so they can’t really react all that well.
Are they usually volatile?
That salamander was so friendly and chill. I hope he continues to live a long, safe life!
This is so 😥 😔 😟 🙁 😞
@Deer sugondeeze nuts LMAO GOTTEM
@pumpkin dude Candice shall be in jail
@Mochi too bad candice didnt take care of it
Japan has such a high life expectancy that even its animals can live for so long. What a blessed country.
You really do have to admire how respectful he is to both nature and culture as well as how grateful he is.
@Hel True, never understood that mentality they have.
@Genuine Weeb Don't bother argueing with the guy. It's pretty clear this guy is too far down the white supremacy pipeline to be helped, unfortunately.
I agree! He really is a wonderful person!
@Vinny V Mate, culture changes all the time, like everything else. Nothing is stagnant. No different from the Naitive Americans seeing their culture replaced, or the old Pagan civilizations of Europe being forced to convert to Christianity.
I really appreciate how Coyote showed respect to Okada Sensei and the reverence he had for Osanshirou, who at his ancient age and size would be considered “Nushi,” a master / guardian of the land he inhabits (think Mushishi and Princess Mononoke.)
Was thinking along the same lines myself. Such a wondrous, awe-inspiring creature. He is due a great deal of reverence, for sure.
You can tell it's a Japanese Salamander, it got into the net so politely.
If you dont taste the aggressive nature of some Asian countries you cant appreciate the politeness of japan 😆 facr
@soggy This dude's really bringing up history in a salamander video
@obvault sadly we seem to want to eat/drink/brew soup out of/slather on every single endangered species
@Beni 51 im Chinese, and while this may be true for our salamanders, history speaks volumes otherwise…
@soggy umm what history have you learned💀
Can you just imagine what it would be like if we, humans, had aliens coming on earth to pick us up and do a video about us and measuring us and saying, "these are called humans and their only predators are themselves and each other. They might not eat each other but they sure know how to destroy each other and themselves."
Now there are some exceptions to this case where some of them will grow to want to eat another one of their kind. These are called cannibals and are usually hunted down, one of them remains free in a particular country.
hornets, bears, alligators, sharks, wolves, etc:
"They might not eat each other but they sure know how to destroy each other and themselves."
Cannibals want to know your location
Um cannibals exist hehe
Osachiro-sama’s toes are the cutest things I’ve ever seen! He’s so adorable! What a king!
I really wanted to find one when I was younger so I always went outside to find one but later I found that it was an endangered species
but I still want to see one in the wild so when I find a clean river, I would look inside it for a chance lol
I'm Japanese
Amazing to see you with this endangered magestic monster in Tottori Japan - thanks for helping shed a light on the importance of conservation of the area's natural habitat where it lives - will talk with Richard Pearce of Bushido Japan tours today who is helping regenerate the nature in the area and set up tours to support Dr.Okada's work and protect these creatures
I absolutely admire his level of respect for both the animals he handles and the cultures of the people he interacts with. It's truly wonderful.
just the way he handles them so gently, even when he knows he’s going go test out their bites and stings, its incredible.
Agreed!
Amazing, I hope future generations find this as spellbinding and fascinating as I have so these animals have a safe and healthy future in our world. Thank you Coyote!
14 kg, that is so huge... love to see they protecting this animals❤
I love how you appreciate and respect these creatures also Okada is amazing. God bless this giant Salamander.
he's so chill, reminds me of a capybara. wikipedia says they may live up to 80 years so he's definitely beaten the odds
So respectful to both the animal and the culture. That goes a long way in Japan. The genuine passion for and love of these animals shows in these episodes.
@Melon Lad don't forget honour.
@be a reble-lion yea they cool unless you stand out or are a foreigner
@Melon Lad she meant coyote is being respectful towards japanese culture
@Melon Lad 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 they eat 'em bro, why do you it's endangered? now the government has prohibited it.
They also ate it. As i know
All my life I thought this animal has gone extinct but look at that!
Thank you very much sir!💯❣️
“River dragons” I love that nickname and now salamanders are my new favorite animal
I like how they handled it with so much care
Im moving to Japan soon so...
I REALLY WANT TO SEE IT
Have fun
Have fun
I love how unbelievably respectful to the animals and the experts he works with. He’s a young Steve Irwin in the making.
Doesn't Steve Irwin already have a son
Slevin Channel No the boards are just the roof to the tunnels. They have free mobility, which is why it could back out. Also if they couldn’t move then they’d not only die but also wouldn’t even be able to breed.
I mean Steve Irwin has a son who legit does what Steve does 😂
@Kermit The Psychopath ?
That's just offensive
I'm in absolute disbelief this thing is absolutely amazing
I literally loved when the little river beast smiled.
So freaking wholesome. So much respect for this and all animals...
When they were pouring water on it and Coyote was saying yes, yes, yes it seemed like he was planning something evil😂
"Get a little water on it, there."
"Oh that's good."
"Yes, yes, yes."
Salamander:
When okada says yosh before lifting the unit it gave me flash backs of my gma back in kyuushu whenever we would go pick vegetables in the fields she would always say yosh when she was done squatting man I almost tears up
I have nothing else to say than
This is absolutely unique 😍
Animal dócil 😍❣️✨🇧🇷
Coyote really had to hurt that salamander’s feeling when he said “his head’s the size of a cantaloupe”
🍈 👀 👁👄👁
Never hurts my feelings when girls say that about my jimmy leg
Coyote : look at his head, its a size of a cantaloupe.
Salamander : Nani?! Kuso yarō!!!
Yup
@VeniX ??? I like yo cut g
i love giant salamanders so much, ever since seeing the pokemon quagsire. this one is absolutely beautiful, im envious of coyote.
Lindo animal❣️
Beautiful Salamander no wonder they love it so much very unique
I'd like to cuddle this adorable salamander❤it's large but very cute 😍
am i the only one that loves how loving, gentle and caring he is toward animals? its so cute.
@GAMER JUICE gv
Not unusual you see father potential in him if he's that gentle with an animal that's not human.
Cutely mugs salamander
U not alone friend
Yeah and that's good! No animal should be treated badly or hurt by someone 😄
Amazing! Huge and cute salamander!!
cuuuuute!!! look at those adorable toes and that charming flat head, especially when you look at them from the front. those teeny, far apart eyes... everything about this animal is sublime. very good chonk, protect this ancient dragon at all costs
He's so awesome! And so is the salamander.
I remember a time I found a salamander as big as my hand it was amazing it was very slippery and adorable
I love how trusting the salamander was with the human handlers. But then, he's probably been handled by them for 100 years, so...
Wait till somebody says asset out of contanment
@Bren Hanks and sleeping 😴
I it so slimy I bet
i see salamanders rarely and there only about 2-4 inches long but that thing makes the salamanders i find look like a mc donald's toy
Omg it is so cute, one day, I hope sooner than later, I will get a salamander
Weird that in Anime, video games, and so on, Salamanders are often associated with fire, but these guys live in the cold water.
Facts in a Japanese anime fairytale natsu’s Nick name is salamander and his dad or who raised him (igneel) is a dragon & natsu dragneel is is full name & this whole time I’ve just related them with dragons and fire until this video Lmaooo my mistake they remind me of catfish with their wide head
Charmander 😊
@Drippy Clan Is Goated salamanders are the elemental spirits of fire, just like gnomes are the ones of earth
they were thought to be inmune to fire, l remember reading about a legendary salamander skin cloak that could protect one from burning amidst flames
I found one when I visited Japan with my dad for business and dear god I had never felt so outmatched by an amphibian like common that thing is like 1 foot and some change shorter than me how am I not supposed to feel imposed upon
It's like one of those little rubber toys that you put in water and they grow in size over a week but this one never stopped growing
lmao
@SweatyBoner69Hoobastank This animal itself is older than them I would imagine!
SweatyBoner69Hoobastank oh I used to beg my mom to buy me those all the time when I went to the supermarket. She got them for me a few times.
@Kamina the things I'm thinking of are way older then orbeez, though it's the same idea. Theyre called magic grow capsules. Theyre shaped like animals or bugs or aliens etc.
Its orbeez
Man how cool it'd be to go on a shoot with Coyote. The ultimate field trip.
Wow. Absolutely massive
Where Im from some of the smallest species of salamander.Imagine coming across this after seeing small salamanders.
I'm 156cm tall (adult), so the salamander is almost as long. Wow, it is huge :)
when you're just chilling and some dude is screaming in your face about how big you are
Suhaira
its a lot better when a woman says it
2019:
Loool yes
random relatives be like:
How incredible and beautiful!
It is such beautiful creature!
That is actually a Giant Axolotl! I’ve done my research on it. It was jest carefully raised to live a long time.
Lol what
It looks so squishy and cutee , especially the fingers 🥺
“We need to do it quickly guys” *continues to explain and getting shots of the thing 😂
Great footage. A pity the opportunity was missed to highlight the unique subject of 'tissue/limb cellular regeneration', regarding the missing foot of the 'Giant Japanese Salamander' at the Hanzaki Research Institute and was not discussed. The very attribute the species is renown for both internationally and historically, wasn't occurring to this particular specimen, with no mention of any reason as to why being made. Was the Giant Salamander too old when the injury happened for example?
reminds me of Del Lago from Resident Evil 4, and if you take into account that it is a Japanese game, maybe they were inspired by this species
It looks like a giant axolotl I love it it’s so cute
man, sometimes you just have to appreciate how genuinely happy Coyote looks, it's an infectious smile and I smile because he looks like he's just having fun and has a good life!
Who wouldn't have a giant smile being up close to one of these things?
"This is a national treasure"
*camera pans down to the largest salamander ive ever seen*
im ugly sobbing what a good baby what a good critter ugh my heart
@mrpotatobaconcarljr i live in texas, true
Texas
That forest is so beautiful
Your Japanese pronunciation is pretty good. Have you taken any Japanese courses?
Very good work!
I'm so surprised how gentle this creature is. Its... Really cute.
@Ronald Matsuo ?
Do you have gotcha live
He’s not just going to rule over this world
But all worlds
Hey that's a cool salamander there 😀
The hands and feet looks so cute
I was reading about these salamanders on Google because I was curious of the animals in Japan
This thing is older than Queen Elizabeth. Absolute unit
It's cute. Giant axolotl
This thin is queen elizabeth!!
well prince Philips is older than queen Elizabeth
@Mark Jun Cayabyab aa
@local friendlycloud LOL no such thing as adam n Eve but funny joke
Yo, what an amazing animal!
That’s epic I envy you 😌👌🏻
5 FOOT LONG SALMANDER?!! HARD TI EVEN IMAGINE
Why is it... so cute. I instantly want to take care of it
I am in awe at the size of this absolute unit
@WhistlinDixie Anyone who smokes is an absolute bonehead.
painhellemental 9000 it was a gungeon joke because the profile pic is from that game
Nothing compaired to k.rool
@Tutorial no im not
If that's the second largest species makes me wonder what the first largest looks like
If you played game resident evil 4, you must be familiar with the monster on a swamp... They call him "El gigante"
Never thought I would think a salamander would look cute, but here I am thinking a salamander is cute
I read the manga "The Tropical Fish Yearns for Snow" and this is the salamander in the story!
That big slimy boy so cute. he deserves to be protected and well taken care of.
I sought out this salamander and found your video because I found what I believe to be several young ones, living in the water near my house. I bought an old Japanese kominka style house in Hiroshima Prefecture's countryside last Christmas. Since then, I have found quite an assortment of interesting things -- just like being on a treasure hunt. Most recently, I found a WWII officer's katana and discovered these little salamanders living in some water in front of my house, which is always there whether there is rain or not. Currently, a friend's mom, who works at Hiroshima university, is going to show my video of these critters to the science department to find out if they really are the unique Osan Sho uo. If they are, then I am concerned for their safety as they are exposed in their current location, and will take steps to have them properly relocated. Very exciting stuff!
It needs be preserved for many and many years
The salamander kinda looks like an ancient temple though...🤣🤣 but it is quite cute...🥰
“Ranking as the *second* largest salamander species in the world”
wait WHAT
@Add887 cuz they use it in there “traditional medicine”. And the meat has been thought to have medicinal properties for thousands of years
@Caesar the Chinese eating and using them for medicine also doesn't help the conservation efforts
@Ben that’s the same height as me and I’m 10 or just turned 10
What’s up bill
Anyone know why the Chinese one is so endangered??
This was touching and heart warming! But never forgot "The Cove".
And the American cattle, pig, and chicken slaughter houses.
But I do love salamanders they are the most unique animal in the world, the most calming animal and its patterns are amazing!❤️❤️
Honor to this Ancient Creature
This makes me wonder how the hell the ganados even transported this thing all the way to rural Europe.
There is just so much love, respect, and passion you can see from the eyes of Coyote when he looks at the animals!
Arch🦋🐙🐬🕸️
What an incredible creature.
I saw one wider than the size of my fist and forearm, in Michigan along the side of the road 15 years ago. They are usually the size of my finger and getting more rare to find.
Really Cool! As ugly as it is, it is beautiful! Awesome vid guys!
THATS MASSIVE I WISH I CAN DO THAT
It made me so happy seeing Coyote so genuinely happy and excited about seeing the salamander and how passionate he was about it, really made my night
It's like a larger and less cute version of axolotl... nonetheless still cute.
The salamander deserves its own mausoleum
For the first time i see a salamander this size!
Are these salamanders kept in zoo's as well in Europe? I mean as part of breeding/replacement. Don't know what kind of limits these have.
As a person who owns multiple species of salamanders, I really can appreciate what facilities like this one are doing. Helping the propagation of an ancient amazing species that we would never want to see disappear 💯
@Dingo Jack lmao
Ancestors of these creatures could be over 20 feet long!
I don’t own any salamanders. I was only capable of thinking this was “cool.” You probably were able to think it was “really cool.” I’m ashamed of my naïveté.
If it lost outside people Japanese will cut and cook ..
That is until it survives solely on a diet of human flesh and bones
Wow it’s so beautiful. Sad that it’s home got destroyed. Humans are a bit too territorial. They always have the need to conquest.
im crying now cuz i wanna hug em they look so squishy and cuddly
