I've build the "game now" PC for 360€, didn't buy a graphics card. My only remorse is not buying faster RAM because the 2200G is very RAM sensitive, i suggest going for 3000Mhz. Ask me anything about the build :D

  • Nonplussed Productions

I know that gaming pcs are where the clicks are, but it would be really interesting to see a build for other purposes like video editing or whatever.

I'm still happy with my '1080p $1000 desktop build' from 2015, but then I am more of a casual, old-school turn-based Strategy, RPG & tab-target MMORPG type player, & never was interested in playing Shooters or twitchy 'Action Combat' console type games. I do think paying a little extra for an more-durable enterprise-class SSD is worth it for your primary drive. I will probably build my next system in 2020. My current system is below - nothing fancy or over-the-top, but it does what I need it to do at the resolutions that I am happy with.
    - PHANTEKS Enthoo Evolv mATX Aluminum Case (White) - $120
    - ENERMAX Revolution X't ATX 530 Watt Gold-Rated Power Supply (ERX530AWT) - $80
    - GIGABYTE LGA-1151 Intel H110 mATX DDR4 Motherboard (GA-H110M-S2HP) - $75
    - KINGSTON HyperX FURY Black 16GB (2x8GB) 2133MHz DDR4 CL14 Memory (HX421C14FBK2/16) - $95
    - INTEL Core I5-6500 3.20Ghz LGA-1151 Processor - $190
    - EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4GB FTW GAMING ACX 2.0+, Graphics Card (04G-P4-3969-KR) - $175
    - INTEL 240GB SATA 2.5" SSD (DC S3500 Enterprise Class) - Primary Boot/OS Drive - $150
    - HP BH40N Blu-ray DVD Internal 5.25 Drive - $40
    - Sound BlasterX Siege M04 Optical Gaming Mouse $55
    - WESTERN DIGITAL 1TB SATA 3.5" HDD (Storage - a carryover from old system)
    - WESTERN DIGITAL 500GB SATA 2.5 HDD - (Storage - a carryover from old system)
    - I was using my old 20" Planar 1600x900 Monitor with the system, but now using an HP 27ES 27" IPS 1080p Monitor instead & an AOC i3207VW3 32" 1080P IPS secondary Monitor for streaming movies/shows in my room.
    - Still using my nice 20+-year-old ergonomic deluxe Microsoft Keyboard with PS/2 connector. They don't make quality feeling keyboards like this anymore! :)
    - Still using a 10-year-old silver Dell soundbar that integrated perfectly underneath screen of my HP 27" monitor. Also, have a more deluxe soundbar under my 32" AOC steaming monitor.

For $1000 build get 2060 instead of 1070Ti. Its cheaper and slightly more powerful. Plus it runs really cool and you can overclock it to easily outperform a 1080.

What sucks about this is that the government slams 25% tax on every component + shipping fees, so basically what's a $1000 PC for normal people is actually a $2000 PC for me. The 1070ti is pretty much $1000 alone

Linus I’m thoroughly disappointed in your “Just a Game” system recommendations. The Ryzen 3 with the Gigabyte motherboard combination was a sad performer. My old system was an ASRock Z 77 motherboard W/ core i7-2600 and consistently outperformed the Ryzen by 30% or more in all facets and this is including the fact that it’s only running DDR3 memory. I made the mistake of going out and buying the recommended parts and finding out what a slug performer the system is. What I could’ve done is taken all the money I wasted and put it all into a video card which would’ve benefited the overall gaming experience much more. The other thing I didn’t realize about the Ryzen CPU is it only supports Windows 10, you may be a Windows 10 fan boy but I’m not, and a lot of the rest the world isn’t either. Windows 10 and its constant snooping isn’t necessary for a gaming rig! Complete waste of money & time!

Geez who spends over a thousand for PCs today. When I used to build my own rigs back in the day they were Max $600 for a premium build. I think the graphic cards are way over priced, the memory sticks are utilizing rip off pricing and the pricing of intel processors are ridiculous. I think it’s the gaming industry and the cash infused millenniums that have driven the prices of all these components up to stratospheric levels.

if you are buying a used card be veeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry careful because people like to mine on a card and once it is near the end of the its life span they sell it on ebay and websites like that then you are going to buy a used card that is nearly at the end of its life span and your money will be wasted.
So if you are looking for advice wait for some time and let the new rtx or gtx cards whatever they will be come out and a card like the 1070 or something like that will probably become cheaper.

    Happy to help :)

I call bullshit. Your AC Origins benchmark doesn't take into account how the double DRMs tank your fps - and your whole rig for that matter - by at least 30-40%... You need at least a 3,000 dollar PC to make it barely playable.

2000 bucks and a HDD? Really? In 2018? 32gb RAM? Even unoptimized early access titles don´t use up 16GB of RAM. Rather get a 2 TB SSD instead of HDD and upgrade the RAM later. The 2000$ build is a "Look what i got. It´s expensive" not a perfomance oriented one. For that money you can propably go 7 2700x and 2080TI to get 4K gaming. (GPU will limit way before the CPU, so yes it´s enough CPU Power for 4K)

Even the $2000 one I'd still rather have an AMD cpu, the performance to price is way better whilst still being more than enough to play games. The performance gains with an Intel cpu are too slim to pay the steep extra cash, at least until one has literally 'more money than sense.' You're a lot more honest with the criticisms against Nvidia and Intel. Why can't you bring that integrity to the Apple and Facebook videos?

Great year to get value hardware? Don´t you get hardware, or are you missleading people on purpose? Never has commun hardware been that expensive before. In 2008 I bought one of these freakin overclockable E7000 (can´t remember but i think it was the 7550K) 150 bugs. High End Graphics were at 400 bugs ( I bought an 9800GTX for 200 bugs, due to for close) at this time. I feel like "there´s never been a worse time, to buy a PC, for about 5 years. There´s new stuff, but the od shit just stays pricy

I'm going to order the 2,000$+ one and all the parts from amazon.. are you sure all the parts will work together when I build and put it together?

My 2080 build is 1700$ so I'd agree. You saved money by getting a 2070 but spending 400 on a i7 was the mistske. All in all whoever built these isn't that good at saving money lol

    i7 9700K
    Corsair H100i Pro
    Gigabyte Z390M Gaming
    Adata Gammix D10 32GB 2400
    Seagate BarraCuda Compute 1TB SSD
Gigabyte RTX 2080 8GB Gaming OC

You should do a $1500 budget option, I feel like that's more common than $2000

You can get a copy of Windows 10 for $25 on Kinguin.com. I’ve bought 5 or so copies from them and never had any issues, just buy from the reputable dealers.

+Tunacan yay I also have uactivated windows on my desktop and it disables windows update and windows security. Im talking about windows 10 btw. Its designed that way because its meant for testing purposes, not to use for actual everyday use.

+Waddleypig thats false. i have been using unactivated windows for years. it only disables personalization options (you can still use the windows 7 menu which does the same thing) and puts some text on the bottom right

      Waddleypig 14 days ago +1

+Tunacan yay thats only temporary, its supposed to stop letting you use it after a certain amount of time. It also disables some features like windows security, and windows update, so if you do decide to go that way, you will have to manually find every driver, and figure out when to update them yourself, and you will have to buy your own antivirus, if you like those.
