Star Wars can be saved if they start from the Old Republic story line and just follow what came before without disrespecting or agenda politics changing the character for example having a strong mary sue because its time for one at the expense of past story line and roles that change the core of the character like Luke first trying to bring Vardar to the light to trying to kill his nephew because he fears what he could become, that change is unbelievable because if Luke feared his nephew path he had the time to shape his thinking by training him and warning him about the dark side to suggest Luke the last Jedi trained by master Jedi would not train his student the danger of the dark side is like saying Vader is not his dad . If they start

Gary, I am not defending TNG or the old Trek series, but it wasn't realistic seeing these superheros, super trained, Worf on top of all, constantly being beaten by everybody.

    Hi Nerdrotic,
I love your show. Your thoughts and opinions are very entertaining. In my humble opinion I believe the reason why you are seeing these very shrewd and cunning characters being dumbed down is not because David Benioff & Dan Weiss decided to that on their own.
I humbly respect your opinion but you are wrong.
Remember what George RR Martin reminded all of us during one of his interviews. He stated that MAGIC is back!! The world which this story is set in is "Planetos". It started with the Children of the Forest & the Giants. It was always about magic. Magic is coming back fiercely. Which means that all of the greatest plans and strategies that was being conducted amongst MEN are being crushed by Magic.
This has been happening slowly and subtly. There are 3 areas where it was done subtly and we missed them. They are:
    1) Varys being put in his place with one of the Lord of Light witches who told him, "Would you like to know the name of the one who spoke to you from that voice you heard?". Varys appeared SHOOK and was at a loss for words. There were no witty lines coming from him. That was the first shot.
    2) Little Finger thinking no one knew of about his entire plot to cause chaos in westeros to take control of the 7 kingdoms and was left looking like he was the worst intelligent individual you have ever met. Giving you the feeling why would Dave & Dan do this to a character who may me be the most intelligent individual of the show.
    3) Tyrion beginning to look as if he doesn't know what he is doing. Sansa calling him out on not seeing through what Cersei promised him that lannister soldiers would fight for the North.
Mr. Nerdrotic. I think what you are discovering is NOT that Dave & Dan is writing a poor script to rush the ending of the story. NO. I believe you are looking at MAGIC REIGNING SUPREME in the world of "Planetos". SHREWD & CUNNING men who have been conniving, scheming, killing senslessly are coming to an end.
AT THE END OF THE STORY MAGIC WILL RULE!!!
The hints are in the books but we as readers have been ignoring it and being more intrigued by the politics & ruling family squabblings & big battles that we missed them.
This is where George RR Marting seems to be going.
Anyway, Mr. Nerdrotic this is just my opinion. What are your thoughts?

In answer to the question of how I could be convinced to return to the Star Wars IP, nothing less than Kathleen Kennedy's head on a pike, and the opportunity to wave at it like Vir did to Morden was it, but that was before Captain Marvel. Now I would need that, need the same treatment for Cheese McRestingBitchFace, AND Bob Iger himself would have to get on his knees and blow me on a livestream. That's the least they owe me, me and every other fan of every IP these NPCs have destroyed, every fan they've turned the mainstream narrative against.

What would bring me back to Star Wars? My gosh, this question has been bugging me for 3 days. The thing is I had already come back to Star Wars before Disney bought it, The Clone Wars brought me back then. I enjoyed the prequels for what they were, George's vision of the backstory, I thought the writing and overall story could have been so much tighter. Then I watch The Clone Wars after avoiding it for years and I say to myself 'gosh, George why couldn't you have done that in the first place'. Disney cancels The Clone Wars, but they bring out Rebels, which was good for it's first season then I noticed a steady decline. The only reason I gave TFA a shot was because JJ Abrams wouldn't be involved in the others, the RJ and KK fucked up, and JJ comes back.... hell no, I'll never watch another JJ Abrams movie again!
I can't see me coming back, even the revival of The Clone Wars isn't doing it. They had one chance and they should have done it right in the first place.

Gary, there's a TheXvidr & comic shop owner with a new channel called Perch. He tries to inform people about the comics industry as a fan and as a retailer. His handle is also Perch.

I have heard the argument that the Captain Marvel controversy sold Captain Marvel tickets, namely the TheXvid coverage. I can attest that for me personally if it wasn't for these videos from you guys, I would have no knowledge of what was going on with her (as it's not covered anywhere else), and would have paid money to see the movie. Thank goodness I did not. It has turned me off from Endgame and giving Disney any more money, which in turn would reward them for bad behavior towards fans. Thank you.

Itโ€™s what you speak on entertainment being taken over by identity politics etc. I kept getting recommended to watch you by the YT Algorithm, so I guess it canโ€™t be all bad eh? I would of supported David Bradley for the Doctor however not after his last performance where he took his 30 pieces of silver and pissed over the memory of the first Doctor. Making him some Misogynistic relic whereas I remember him as I watched the originals and he was not at all like that but they wanted some target for the SJW's to mock. So much for him honouring his memory the hypocrite.

I know that Pablo Hidalgo (nothing against him personally) is a SJW, and a very aggressive one at that... But what did Chuck Wendig do?

Re Doctor Who not an insider however looks like it is over the ratings on last season were falling at about 300k a show. The BBC have described it as an "Experiment" there is a year long hiatus supposedly as either the BBC haven't got the money for it or Chinballs cannot come up with any ideas. Either way guaranteed to lose viewers. The BBC are also moving it back to its original and much more competitive Saturday timeslot. They couldnt just cancel it otherwise they would lose face in front of the SJW community but this way they can turn around and claim a 3 year run but cancel or recast after that.

I don't want to see a Picard show at all! That was just Kurtzman grasping at straws, hoping to get some positive press so he would look like someone in charge and successful at his job. I would rather see Patrick Stewart as the new Doctor Who!
    Imagine THAT, if you will!

Don't know wether you ever listened to the old Opie & Anthony radio shows but third mic-er Jim Norton had a character called Uncle Paul that he would do frequently. Uncle Paul was really creepy pedophile and Jim did lines and even dialogs between Uncle Paul and some of his other characters (like Chip) that made it clear Uncle Paul had molested them as children. All these characters and voices he did interweaving with each other was kinda sick and disgusting but also really hilarious. I've never heard anybody say they wouldn't let their kid meet Jim because of those jokes/bits. I wonder whether the difference is in the audio versus the text or the comedian versus the director...

What if Episode 9 is about Rey being a spy for the emperor and Luke not being dead. Luke turns Kylo back to the Light and they defeat Rey and the emperor at the end.

Bruce Lee wasn't big but he was ~70kg of pure muscle, and trained his entire life to hit as hard as a truck. He could probably take down a lot of big fellas easily. But that's quite different from Hollywood's current trope of 50kg untrained little girls pretending to be able to take down waves of huge men.

If you are a good guy following the moral rules of most of mankind, de facto you are a good Christian, Muslim or whats-o-ever. The rules for being good or bad are almost the same in every religion and in every society. Thus I am not looking for what kind of membership card you are carrying, I'm looking for their actions. If they are good, I want to be their friend and I praise them for their actions. If they are hippocrits (talking but not acting like it) or outright back, I'm avoiding them.
Tolerance is the name of the game. Don't nail people for their believes, accept them for what they are and respect them for their good deeds.
That's my way of living in a nutshell. I love to talk with people of different opinions, because they enlighten my own point of view and they are a lot of fun talking to.

I hate and donโ€™t understand why CBS wonโ€™t just go 80 years in the future like TOS to TNG and make it look like STD if they want. This hole way they have gone about it is stupid, the TNG, DS9 type of show works well and is proven to be successful.

Heard Rose Tico dies super early in 9.... if that's true its the closest thing to an apology we will get. For the Record Captain Marvel owes its success to Endgame, it's unfortunate that it made so much money because now they will feel justified making her the center of the MCU going forward.

I have reduced vision and the recent trend of the last couple of years of "dark and edgy" puts me off going to the movies as I can't see crap. Same with the super fast jump jut laden CGI fights. I need longer than everyone else to focus so I end up with a headache so I've just started closing my eyes/
Last film I saw was the excellent Lego 2

What Eighth Dr advdntures? Didn't Paul McGann only star in the 1996 TV movie "The Night of the Doctor"?
    How did I miss them?
Are you talking about the books?

Artists pretending or trying to be collectivists is due to the academic triumph of Marxist thinking. It's really amazing how Marxism was a complete failure politically - even China had to economically go Capitalist - but was a resounding triumph in the academias throughout the world. I still remember how shocked I was when I read Hobsbawm's The Age of Extremes and, after dedicating hundreds of pages to show the failure of every single communist/socialist political system in the 19th and 20th centuries, he ends up by saying "But it's still a good idea, we should keep trying". That's a level of fanaticism that you only see in the most extreme religious cultists or Klan members. I think the idea of a utopia where everyone is equal is so fascinating to those people and, like Che Guevara, they feel this makes them the vanguard of Humanity, so they do actually feel they are heroes fighting to improve the world - and Democracy be damned. I always say it and others have said it before me, nothing is worse or more dangerous than a person who believes they know that is best for everyone. A guy who tortures you for his own profit may get fed up with that, but a guy who tortures you for your own good will never stop, because his conscience goads him on.

Calm down dude. Not relevant. We're talking comics and movies; and while the issues do intersect with politics, no one needs your rant. Keep your thoughts on Marxism to yourself, and don't reduce one issue to another.

Back to basics for me in Star Trek would be having no threat at all. The best of the OS (I'm gonna keep saying IMO, of course it's IMO) are the episodes where they have to face against a more advanced or utterly different life form and deal with it (Devil in the Dark, The Savage Curtain, Who Mourns for Adonis, By Any Other Name, Catspaw, and so on). I actually don't like the movies very much, except for the first one, which is true Trek for me, because since The Wrath of Khan (though that's the best of them, again barring the first) they became increasingly action movies, and for me Star Trek has always about the wonder of exploring the cosmos, not space battles and stuff. Even when you have something of the sort in the OS, it's actually grounds for philosophical/sociological/political reflections, like Balance of Terror or Observer Effect.
So, I would LOVE a series say 1000 years in the future where they would be like exploring other galaxies and please, we don't need that anymore budgetwise, have aliens look like aliens, not humans with makeup. And have actual conflicts relating to interaction and understanding, differences in values and viewpoints. I have my problems with Arrival, but the whole idea around communication issues with aliens was great. That, BTW, is what I think would be the biggest (perhaps insurmountable barrier) of an encounter with aliens, unless they're way smarter than us and can bridge the communication gap. Hell, we can't even decipher HUMAN languages without a known frame of reference, let alone understand an alien language/thought process. Sadly, though, I fear that, unless artificial wormholes are actually possible, we or them will be extinct way before we have time to meet.

Would anyone else pay money for a streaming site that developed exactly what Sci-fi fans asked for ? Many fans have asked for a Trek series 40 years after Nemesis. This site could allow fans to float ideas and vote to narrow down a direction. There are very few things I purchase other than my Internet connection but I have been so disappointed with STD and SW that I realized I would pay a monthly fee to get a Television show that I like. Star Trek Continues was great and done on a cheap budget, also Axanar was looking good and Star Trek Renegades looked good. I like the TNG episodic story telling the best, so Star Trek Continues for me. I would pay monthly and if our Fandom wanted something else, fine.

Whether a person is a Christian or from any other religion shouldn't matter. My brother and one of my best friends are Christian, my girlfriend has spiritual beliefs, and I'm a hardcore atheist. It's like people unsubscribing from Shadversity because they found out Shad is a Mormon. That's completely stupid and bigoted, as bad as a girl saying a guy is harassing her because he made a pass at her.

Whenever Art tried to get political, it went to shit. The whole Soviet cinema and literature, Nazi and American propaganda movies, and so on and so forth. The only possible exception I can think of is when Art does satire and irony, like Jonathan Swift (especially A Modest Proposal). But that takes genius level to avoid from getting blatant and obvious and thus, boring.
I've said this before: people these days like to say it's all a matter of opinion and they have the right to like whatever they want. Yes, theoretically they do (The Orville episode about the social media planet comes to mind). However, whenever you like something, you're sending a message. That's one of the things many people don't understand about a Democracy. ALL our actions have consequences. We may be mere pinpoints in a huge mass of people, but the sum of the actions of individuals can cause big ripples in society. If you want to live in a free democratic country, you need to take responsibility for your part in the process, and that part is not merely vote for some guy and forget it. Picard said it well (well, George Washington, actually), "the price of freedom is eternal vigilance". And sorry, folks, but that also applies to the entertainment industry. When you buy crap and say it's OK to like crap, what you're telling the industry is that they don't have to put an effort to produce quality. You send that message to everyone in the industry. Why would writers go to the trouble of reading the classics (including History) to learn how to write well, if people will pay tons of money to watch the same Transformers movie six times, only real difference being the title? When retarded marketing surveyors tell studios that "the charts" indicate this and that changes to a movie will make it sell more and it does (though seldom if ever due to those changes), you're telling studios that they should listen to their marketing people and believe those charts. When you like Michael Bay's Ninja Turtles, you're telling studios that it's OK to produce another Transformers movie under a different name, because you're there only for the special effects and the brand recognition. In that case, Disney is not wrong in considering their audiences as "consumers". Whenever I see somebody saying "it's just a popcorn movie, turn your brain off and enjoy it", I feel that person never had their brain turned on to begin with. I can't turn off my critical sense, either when watching a movie or when enjoying a meal. If the meal is crap, I will reject it, even if it feeds me (unless I'm starving, but I can't physically starve for Art, so there's no excuse there). Recently somebody attacked a Doomcock video saying channels like his and this one here live by spreading rumors and false allegations, and that's also on the root of many of our current problems. It's not just that it became all right to attack fans. It became WRONG to honestly criticize something. You say a movie directed by a black, gay or female person is bad, that automatically means you're bigoted, racist, misogynist, and homophobic. Yes, I am aware that these are trends in society that come and go, but not only these trends last quite some time, but they can also leave a LOT of damage in their wake. So, it's not only great by vital to have people who speak up against those trends and the damage they cause. It is NOT OK to like crap. And believe me, there are LOTS of standards to judge quality, and it's not all subjective and a matter of opinion. Those are the excuses mediocre people hide behind.

@Liquidcadmus True so true. I am such a big fan of Star Trek I went to a convention in 1993 which my friends (normies) thought was weird. I have watched and rewatched all the originals. The mantra running in my head while watching season 1 of STD was "This abomination is NOT Star Trek".

Also was a huge Dr. Who fan loved it until this new abortion of a show with Jodie Whitaker and refused to watch it. Don't want to see another of my beloved shows get butchered. It's painful.

@Sprite Cola OH, I'm very aware of EA.
I've never been a sports fan so I never really bought their video games BUT I've heard and read many, many complaints about that company over the years.
It is sad the level of mediocrity they put out.
There haven't been very good licensed adaptations of movies and TV shows in videogames for a while BUT the general level of that type of games has NEVER been fantastic and I think you can count the number of TRULY GOOD Star Wars or Star Trek adaptations on one hand a-piece! That is generally true for genre adaptations in general. EA ha NEVER been great with licenses and the best superhero and sci fi adaptations have been produced by other companies which are long out of business.
EA has a tendency to crowd out or drive other companies out of business with sheer marketing muscle. I don't know who their main competitor was way back when but another company (might have been 15-20 years ago) was producing VERY good sports games for a while AND marketing them for $10 less.... This is according to other gamers, not me since I'm not a huge sports fan. Anyway, that company could NOT get an NFL game license because EA outbid and made an exclusive deal with the NFL so this company did college games and other things. Gamers though tend to be like crack addicts and will stick to big companies even when they know they're getting screwed so EA still got its way and drove the other company out of business!
Like I told someone else, I think the videogame industry is in a dramatic creative lull. Good games are still being made BUT the last time there was a great industry with good games being a REGULAR thing was probably during the PS2 era. I've got a PS3 and I have to be honest with myself and admit there weren't a lot of fresh games released during that era and I didn't feel compelled to go out and buy a PS4. It just hasn't appealed to me and my videogame enthusiasm died around 5 years ago. I haven't bought a game since... I have no plans to ever get a PS4 OR buy a PS5 at this time. I think I'm out of games and if I play anything again it will probably be the retro-games I have on my PC... I haven't powered up my PS3 to play anything but movies in years and still have a Sega Saturn and Dreamcast but again haven't done anything with those. At this rate, I may just get rid of a bunch of hardware and games online.

What you said goes beyond Disney however.
While it is certainly applicable with Disney...
I know another company that has a habit of taking a once magical smaller and turning it into ash.
Ironically, Disney made a contract with that other company.. EA.
Long story short, big companies kill the magic and personality when the personality of the company takes hold >.>
