Why investors are concerned about U.S.-China trade war

  • Published on May 15, 2019
  • China raised tariffs on $60 billion worth of U.S. goods in response to a similar move by the Trump administration. As a result, stocks plummeted on Wall Street. Scott Gamm, a market and business reporter for Yahoo Finance, joined CBSN to discuss.

Obviously, the bitcoin is set to do as expected after testing $8,690 even though the price still moves sideways as long as support keeps hold. The smartest thing as an entrepreneur to do now is to keep piling up on the coins while anticipating the full blast of the bull run which we are already in. One of the ways to go about this from my experience is dollar cost averaging which i did for some time until i read about Mr Philip Jackson and after contacting him about 5 months ago, he made me understand its less pressuring to grow my portfolio not by continuously buying more coins but by trading after buying. I tried that using his signals and trade strategies with my little holdings of just 3btc and now, my portfolio has grown to an unbelievable size. Before now, i had used some other signal providers but the level at which Philip signals is accurate is just outstanding. I think anyone serious about making strides in the crypto business today must have a piece of Philip Jackson. His contact details are CryptoPhilipJack@gmail/com for any inquiries relating to crypto trading and strategies

I lost a chunk of my savings to some crypto based scheme only to find out about Philip later on. Well, with his guidance i recovered most of it by trading his signals starting off with just 1 btc. He is really good at it

Trump: Xi you are making too much money from export in USA but you don't import anything.
Xi: What do you mean? 60% of those importing to USA are USA companies.
Trump: I don't care. I will slap you with 10% tarrifs if we can't negotiate a deal that makes me look good in 2020 elections.
Xi: Well go ahead then. I will slap you with tariffs as well.
Trump: Ok there you go . *slaps 10% tarrifs
Xi: Ah you silly. *slaps 20% tarrifs
Trump: You wanna play tough . Ok. *slaps 25% tarrifs
Xi: You are funny Donald we barely import anything. You are only hurting your own companies.
Trump: I guess you are right. Ok watch this. *bans Huawei tech and networks.
Do you want to negotiate now or you want cold war?
Xi: No thanks Donald. We good. I guess is time to check on my rare earth resources * wink , wink*
Trump: Are we going to negotiate?
Xi: Nah sorry i'm busy with playing this 1960s trade war song.

News reports on 14 May , 2019 say that China has hit the U.S. with higher tariffs effective from 1 June 2019 on items including frozen vegetables and liquefied natural gas. A substantial impact of Chinese retaliatory tariffs seems to be on farmers. Such like agricultural commodities as ‘ soyabean’ , ‘frozen vegetables’ are feared to be impacted. The Trump administration is devising an appropriate aid measure to farmers to set off or compensate them against likely consequences of Chinese retaliatory higher tariffs. Closely relevant to these developments , it may be apt to bring out here this Vedic astrology writer’s predictive alert to the U.S. on 1 October , 2018. The said alert in article - “ Astrological probable alerts for the U.S. in 2019” - was published last year on 1 November 2018 in monthly Webzine of Wisdom Magazine at wisdom-magazine.com/Article.aspx/4897/. The alert unambiguously and with absolute clarity relating to the said scenario on farmers produce as a consequence of Chinese retaliatory tariffs announced on 14 May 2019 is found described like this in the article :-
“ 3 . June - July Around in 2019. ..................................Hotel industry or produced commodities having taste or smell may be in the centre of strategic maneuvering or competition between U.S. and competing nations. These trends are likely to be there during the course of the year in some hidden form but are expected to be announced in April - May or September - October , in 2019.” The alert is clearly relating to produce of farmers and is confirmed on ground by the trade war between the US and China.
Later , separately , through another predictive article - “ World trends in April to August 2019” - brought to public domain widely in March and subsequently on 5 April , 2019 , this writer has alerted that a period of four and a half months from mid - April to August , more so June , in 2019 , has tendencies to give rise to major worrisome concerns , calling for more care and appropriate strategy. Decision -making nature involving financial and economic issues could be impacted.

Trump claims "we re-build China". The fact is that US never heavily invested in China - less than 1% of US foreign investment. Secondly, if US was able to re-build a foreign country, why don't Trump/Pence rebuild Mexico? Honduras? It will solve the illegal immigration problem. So it is a lie.

The few things he does right (and there are a few, surprisingly) do not overshadow him believing he is above the law and can do anything he wants and then just issue pardons later.

They don't have a monopoly, they just don't care about the environmental costs associated with rare earth processing, so they do it on a far larger scale then anyone else. Other countries could ramp up their production. Canada, Australia, the US, etc all have rare earth mines. They are just smaller in scale then Chinese operations due to extremely lax environmental protection laws in China versus the rest of the world.

@Kevin Arzola You're out of your mind. The only reason people use China for manufacturing is that it is cheaper to run the factories there with the lower labor costs versus most other places, and it maximizes their profits. As soon as that stops happening, companies will drop China like a bad habit and go somewhere else. Neither country needs each other, and lots of other places could pick up the slack given enough time to ramp up their manufacturing base.

    • Kevin Arzola

    • kupekhaize1980
      kupekhaize1980 3 months ago

@Kevin Arzola China is independent? Uhh what? They can't grow enough food to feed their people; they have to import a huge amount of wheat, grain, etc to feed livestock and they import soybeans like nobody's business (just not from America any more). Neither country is "independent", and products from both countries could be replaced in house or via trading with another country as needed. Either country could either ramp up production or imports from other countries to replace anything they are missing, given enough time, the willingness to do so, and the likely increase in costs.

@J K China is only something like 20% of Apple's sales, and they have enough money in the bank per their financial disclosures that they could stop selling products for the next 10 years and keep all their current expenses and still be in business. They aren't going to go bankrupt losing China's sales. That said, since many of their products are made there, we are talking about a pretty massive impact in terms of both sales and production. It's still not going to bankrupt Apple though. Edit: spelling

@Jon Cross Losing money 4x faster may not matter if your opponent has way more cash then you do, or is a government that can print more at will. You're not completely wrong but its a little more nuanced then you think, especially when we are also sanctioning other countries aside from China at the same time. The effectiveness goes down as more countries are included and they start creating revenue between themselves instead of each with the US.

China sells 4x more to U.S. then the U.S. sells to China.
Simple math says that in a full blown trade war China will bleed 4x as fast as America.
If you owned a store and you lost 4x the revenue as your competitor, guess who goes out of business first.
America holds all the cards all the time, we are by far and I mean by far the most powerful and wealthy nation on the planet.
