"The Tarsier has a wide variety of facial expressions ranging from 'demented firby trying to take a cute selfie' to 'terrified witness to Lovecraftian level horrors that just can't look away.'"
Hahaha! Lovecraftian!
a small teddy bear getting a colonoscopy
HILARIOUS
XD Like it stared into the void and saw way too many eyes.
As a guide from one of the islands here in the Philippines where tarsiers are endemic and having the tarsier as one of our must-see attraction, hats off to you sire, I pale in comparison on how you narrated it.
The tarsier: invents nothing
Me a human: maybe I am a tarsier
Then you must have freakishly large eyes, each larger than your brain
@C a t nice.
@Orange 🐦
Quick, draw a bird to prove you're human
Thank you so much for doing this! I shared it during a month long project (virtually) visiting the Philippines with a group of teens with significant disabilities. They LOVED this video. The information was fantastic, and the humor was a delight!!
As a Filipino, thank you for educating your students. We need to get the word out about these lovely creatures because it helps with conservation efforts. This and the Philippine eagle.
The whole channel is awesome. :)
That moment when your anthropology professor shows this video in class as an educational tool.
I saw yr professor comment on this channel
yup, my anth prof used this as a "non-testable" video
Love it. I wish mine would, but he generally gives us hour long videos narrated by drawling, monotone voices.
That’s because youtube is a more effective education tool than institutionalized instruction
guess who just got sent here bc of my anthro professor as well !
0:54 "Each one of its eyes is heavier than its brain... which might explain why it hasn't invented anything"
I lost it
It's been 3 years. You found it yet?
Better go find it
Lizard Has a Shitty Day was my favorite book to read as a child.
😂How come you can only like a comment once
@Rex 😂😂😂😂i don't deserve the internet would've been a better reply
Me too!
The tarsier's name in Finnish is "kummituseläin", which literally means "ghost animal". I wonder why...
This might be a rough answer but they might be called little ghost animal and ghost animal in different languages because of the fact that primates and monkey's are religiously looked at as ghosts sometimes. I just learned this in my Anty class but a lot of cultures believe that Monkeys such as tarsiers, chimpanzees, bonobos, etc. are actually dead ancestoral ghosts from the past.
Here in Denmark it's called "Spøgelsesabe", which means "ghost monkey"
@the woke pinoy Its just an owl parrot
@Magic Hands what about kakapo? That's what I mean tho, because the animal is native to the country, the locals have a name for it. But in your country, you wouldnt have a word for a kakapo in your language. So it doesnt make sense that you think " it doesnt need to exist there" to have a word for it in your language. Why would your country have a word in your language for kakapo? Hence why im surprised why Finnish people have their own word for tarsier
@the woke pinoy We don't, but that's maybe because the word is maori and they didn't want to change it. We do have different words for platypus and emu though, even though the word for emu is almost exactly the same.
In my primatology class, the professor linked to the tarsier video in our lecture about tarsiers, saying “take a look at this TheXvid, which is a) a fantastic overview of tarsier characteristics, and b) just really funny and entertaining, and it’s probably more effective than you learning the material I’m about to present in the next seven slides”. Fun class. Zefrank, if you are reading this, take comfort in knowing that well respected tenured university professors consider your videos more educational than a 3-credit college course required for anthropology majors.
I'm a 29 year old man. Why have I spent an entire hour watching True Facts? What is wrong with me?
Absolutely nothing is wrong with you!
That is what the human do
@The Mad Librarian dear kitten is great
Ill get in on this. I see here 29,32, 40. Im 60 who is addicted to animal videos. .so..i have to stop now.😂 this guy is hilarious
Absolutely nothing.
"The tarsier has very large eyes. They are in fact the largest in relation to its body of any mammal."
Anime girls: Are you challenging me?
@Kalvon dont insult tarsiers like that 😰
You made me laugh harder than I have in a while with that one 🤣
😂😂😂
Nice one man 🤠
I just discovered this channel and love it 🧡🧡 I’m giggling at how most foreigners pronounce tarsier as “tar-si-yey” 😂😂 we literally just say it as “tar-shir” here
yes, we call it MAUMAG in cebuano
He's pronouncing it french style, I believe.
I heard that they commit suicide by holding their breath.
Also, did you know that they're endangered?
Also, I only heard these somewhere, might not be entirely true since my memory is only slightly better than a goldfish that's high on seaweed. At least I try. That is how ZE R0 do.
Ohh I thought it was pronounced Tar-seer. Thanks for the information!
"You may not have noticed but the tarsier have very large eyes." 😂🤣
We also have big eyes but it just covered lol
That’s because they are cousins to the aye aye 🤣🤣🤣 jk
Was coming here to say that! 😂🤣😂
i see what you mean zigg😉😉
I'm glad that he pointed it out. It's not so obvious. I was looking at the ears all the time.
Please! Please! Please! Make more of these videos. They are best of all things interesting and fun. Your way of describing these creatures is awesome.
I could benge watch these all day every day. I wish *zefrank* narrated EVERYTHING!
“This incidentally is the cover of the children’s book, Lizard Has A Shitty Day.”
😂
I get that confused with “Ol’ Bug Eyes Had a Lizard Shit.”
I enjoy Zefrank Narrations, They make my Day or Night when I need a Good Belly Laugh. Thank You!
My favorite part is when he can’t help but laugh while he is talking
Warning: Do not put any liquid in your mouth while watching zefrank videos. You will laugh uncontrollably and have a mess to clean up.
That is all.
Too late😂😂😂
Oh lord. I read this quickly and thought you wrote "lizard" and not "liquid"
I can't remember, I'm sure it was uncalled for and slightly perverted but in a fun way if that makes any sense. lol....
@DrinkEnemyBlood what did you do
You should have your own tv show. This combination of comic relief and animals strikes a me to the core. My two favorite things
0:36 "It disguises itself in the forest by pretending to be a small teddy bear... undergoing a colonoscopy... it blends in magically"
What a great way to start the day! Excellent narration! I'll be watching all of these : )
I LOVE his videos! No matter how often I look at them, I am still laughing like hell! (Plus that VOICE!)
The book "Lizard has a Shitty Day" was my favorite book as a child. I loved the part where the... Oh wait, I better not say, you know, spoilers!
...where the tarsier made a peepee?
AHM DA TRAESH MAHN
I come out, I throw trash all over the- all over the ring! And then I start eatin' garbage! And then I pick up the trash can, and I bash the guy on the head.
Im only half way through though its 30 pgs.
I can't stop laughing when he breaks character and mumbles "it's too creepy."😂
Apparently these things inspired the creation of Mogwai in gremlins XD (more specifically, the pygmy tarsier)
I don't know if it's true or not but no one can disagree that these two have a lot in common.
Funny enough, gremlins actually came from ww2. There were several eyewitness accounts of strange creatures that could ride on the outside of, and messed with, war planes. There were all kinds of descriptions of these creatures that ranged from human like to more animalistic. They could be mischievous, down right malicious, and sometimes benevolent.
"It disguises itself in the forest by pretending to be a small teddy bear, undergoing a colonoscopy" made me laugh 👍🏻🤣
Oh, bless his heart. Woh I did see that. Thanks so much, Zefrank1. Hugs to the entire staff for these wonderful videos.
(we just learned this in class so I possibly know , just based on our teacher) The tarsier's commit suicide if they are strresed , getting flash by the camera , in noisy places , and they hear very loud voices. so if tourists vist bohol (a place in the Philippines where tarsiers are commonly found) they seriously have to be quiet
@Teru Nii what the hell? I was just expecting them to just, drop themselves from the trees and let gravity do the rest, but
@Weirdanimalguy I don't care that this commment is 4 years old, this made me laugh out loud.
@Teru Nii they simply don't eat or drink, 'sall
BelloIyoh +AVA117
*WHAT THE FUCK*
I think his old videos, before he came back from buzzfeed, really capture what I found so funny about them. His new ones are good, but, it feels like they try too hard to be funny and that he's trying to hold in laughs.
His old videos are more educational and relied more on the delivery of dry humor than implying that something is supposed to be funny with a forced chuckle.
I love how he calls them "Tar-zee-ay". Makes them sound super fancy.
When I saw the thumbnail for this video, first thing I thought: that little critter must have been the inspiration for Yoda!
I had a dream about a kingdom overrun by tarziers in which they worshipped them and set their whole city to the sound of grizzly bear’s music (which i fell asleep listening to) in the dream people called tarziers 12:42’s cuz that’s when they came out. This was like ten years ago but I remember it so vividly
it disguises itself as a teddy bear....undergoing a colonoscopy
I was dying
it's an egregious combination of both
Pretty sure that was a robot chicken skit.
0:37
it blends in magically
Oh my gosh! I am SOOOO glad I stumbled upon your videos! I was just looking for some information one day on Aye-aye's for my daughter, and I ended up rolling with laughter through your whole schpiel. Ah! Too bad your language is not all child-appropriate (although lets me honest, its not really too bad). Now I just watch these for my own enjoyment, LOL.
WARNING: Remember not to eat food while watching zefrank--something I forgot and nearly choked LMAO....
The tarsier is actually suicidal and will bump its head on the wood, not eat for days, not breathe if they hear any loud noises. And tarsiers
are very territorial and one tarsier requires 100 acres of land.
I had a dream last night about caring for a big tarsier. When I looked it up it said:
What does it mean to dream about saving a Tarsier?
Indicates you are pushing yourself to your full potential and letting nothing stand in between you and your true goals and desires.
Got cataract surgery yesterday and discovered this info about eyeballs. Watched Tarsier video like a wild person ... about 14 times.
Showed it to my optomitrist and he thought it was a hoot.
Thanks little guy!
The subtitles spell tarsier different every time he says it. Now that's dedication!
How did he do that lmao
Thanks for posting all of these hilarious videos. I suggest you do a True Facts About the Hagfish.
I’ve seen these tasiers in Bohol, the Philippines, and they have the softest fur you have ever felt, and move from one tree to another in a blink of an eye.
@MaryJen Valvazor no one said it is only from the Philippines?
Tarsier is not only in Philippines
This whole programme is cracking me up, every day I watch it once or twice and it works it's magic, the narrators are funny as fuck! Some mental sense of humour.
Nice one guys. 😹🙉💩🐺🐆🦍🐷🐗🐭🐑🐏🐇🐹🐀🐥🦆🐍🐢🐝🐛🐌🦐🦋There is some beesties back .
Every word is dripping in gold. I haven't recovered from watching the eye eye when I watched this. I'm still laughing snorting and choking from thr. Dude you must be absorbed in small doeses. I'm about to OD on these videos. PLEASE!! Do a full length video for NOVA
Also, I think I remember, the tarsier is the only venomous primate. Either that or something that looks exactly the same. 😂
Great Video! On a more depressing note, Tarsiers are also known to commit suicide in captivity, or even in the wild, when overstressed
That is so sad 😔
I think the "four month old" thing was for hunting independently and then he was going to compare that to a human 4 month old that can basically just sit and roll over but I could be wrong.
these cute little creatures also gets stressed very easily and when they're stressed they suicide
tourists are always reminded not to touch them or take pictures with flash
"Would probably just make a peepee" made me abruptly laugh, scaring my room mates pet.
love your stuff man. So off the wall and impermanent. Have you no couth? Congrats on some excellent content in an otherwise site (youtube) full of wanna be videographers and idiots claiming to be experts and knowledgeable. Keep it up, you make me laugh, and that is something few can do. Frank Zappa would have loved you and tried to adopt you.
They look like they have no idea whether they are a bat, a coconut, a tree frog, or a lemur. So adorable. Omg, it's the inspiration behind Yoda.
This one's actually quite common from where I am, and this is the first time I've heard it pronounced like that. We pronounce it as tar-shir and not tar-siay lmao. I should start pronouncing it that way, that sounds so posh.
I just realized I spent the entire video with my eyes WIDE OPEN staring into the eyes of the tarsier. What hypnotic sorcery is this...
🤣. Funneh
I met these guys when I was really little. They scared the living shit out of me.
Please do one about the cows. Your voice and humor would be a hilarious combination
Its so adorable! Love the commentary!💖
The way he pronounces the name is the first I have ever heard Tarsier being pronounced. Suits him though
Recently I learnt about them from Anime Seton Academy. Before that I never knew this kind of animal existed. Also one fact, whenever they are stressed they commit suicide by banging their heads to solid objects.
Them: "Tar-si-air"
Me and everyone around me: "Tarsheer"
Tar-si-eh like it's French lol
I don't know why but this video cracks me up every single time, especially when the narrator gets thrown off by the sight of this thing. My wife thinks I'm crazy as a result.
+Terrence Aybar I think your wife is crazy then! This video is hilarious!
+HeidiSue60 the mole rat is the funniest for me
@Terrence Aybar have you watched True Facts about the Aye Aye? Seriously, it is THE most funny true facts video. I hold my sides laughing EVERY time.
My fave animal ever, too darn frigging adorable ♡
I haven't come across a single video that you've done that I don't love. You're awesome.
Is this what they call a Nag-Aapie in Afrikaans? It's adorable! We found one in our garden once - all we saw were 2 massive orbs of light reflecting back at us out of the tree 😂
Remind me never to drink anything while watching True Facts about anything by ZeFrank!
This guy is the greatest wildlife narrator ive ever heard.
"Lizard Has A Shitty Day" - one of my all time favorites, right up there with "Goodnight Moon"!
I'm from the philippines and these creatures are being preserved in bohol. they're such cute little critters with big buggy eyes. and here, we pronounce it's name as "tar-seer/siur" not "tar-siay".
I dont see how any of your videos can get dislikes! Humor and educating super plus!!
"Holy crap! Did you see that? It's like exorcist shi-" my stomach hurts😂😂
That's my favorite part!!
1:32 I feel really bad for this one here, it’s eyes where fully adjusted to darkness and suddenly 1,000 lumens of blindness hit you retinas. It’s like checking you phone at night or turning off dark theme times 1,000,000
You forgot to mention that they behave suicidally when they are stressed or held in captivity. I heard that they do so by banging their head against a tree.
Tarsiers eyes are very sensitive to the lights, and after seeing that photo which I believe a flash in camera was used I feel sorry for the tarsier, poor thing.
WHAT CAN IT DO AT 4 MONTHS OLD ???
It can construct a 5-star hotel
javascript
Did zefrank ever answer this question?
I also would like to know the answer to this question.
Their brain become their third eye but can no longer use it effectively.
Tarsiers eyes are very sensitive to the lights, and after seeing that photo which I believe a flash in camera was used I feel sorry for the tarsier, poor thing.
I'm from the Philippines and we don't pronounce it as "Tarsiay", just "Tarshir" and I believe its largely found in Bohol, Philippines so...
Still one of my fave zefrank1 videos of all time
heh heh heh, I love how this guy narrates. I learn sh*t while laughing my ass off!!!
I'm not sure if it's adorable or horrifying.
Its neither
Yes
I understand your confusion there
Yes
@TheiLame *Hodorifyable*
OK, I'm able:
"Hodor."
"It disguises itself in the forest by pretending to be a small teddy bear. Undergoing a colonoscopy." Lmaoooo!
I really love the way you express yourself. I had to watch this twice,no three times, cool.lolly
Heyyyy, coming back to this after a few years! Still funny to this day. I remembered about this animal because I’m watching “Night On Earth” on Netflix.
They’re adorable, but this was hilarious. 😂🤣😂
"lizard has a shitty day" sounds like the kind of book a clam would write.
Yup
I would pre order it
Agreed
“each one of its eyes is heavier than its brain which might explain why it hasnt invented anything” I LITERALLY CHOKED
Can you keep it as a pet, tho? Cuz' I want this absolutely adorable little creature in my home!
I never heard of it being called a Tarsi-eh (Tarsier) here in the Philippinesss...
We call these cuties Tar-sheers (Tarsier) here in our country... 😅
I was suprised it was called "tarsi-eh" in this vid.... 😅
Tarsier is endemic to the Philippines, and we actually pronounce its name as tar-sheer. but i like how you do it. sounds more classy
LIZARD HAS A SHITTY DAY - by Kill Dozer
Lizard has a shitty day,
Gobbled up by Tarsier.
Lizard has a shitty week,
Head got stuck in Eagle's beak.
Lizard has a shitty month,
Got mixed up in Tiger's lunch.
Lizard has a shitty year,
Used to clean Gorilla's ear.
Lizard has a shitty life,
beaten up by estranged wife.
Lizard has a shitty death,
Could not know Rhino was deaf.
So please remember Lizard's plight,
should you think your day is shite.
That is how a lizard do
Beautiful ;-;
Oh, that was awesome!
You should become a children's book writer.
I was about to comment 'I would like to read 'Lizard has a shitty day'' and you've already made it possible.
k
Frank never answered the question of whether a tarsier DO get any "tail", other than what he got from that lizard......
The fact that im a filipino and the way he pronounces “Tarsier” triggers me
But the facts make it funny
I assume your new the channel
It's the French pronunciation.
You should hear how he pronounces 'chameleon'!
Yeah me too
This is the video that got me hooked.😂😂😂 Got me at "Childrens book cover: Lizard has a shitty day"😂😂😂😂😂😂. Keep them coming.
I held one in my hand before all the facts about them committing suicide when stressed out came about. So cute and fuzzy.
I had a colonoscopy yesterday, and pretty sure my eyes went like that too! Lol
You missed this: tarsiers kill themselves when they are stressed, and they are extremely easy to stress with noise, keeping them captive and touching them.
they are suicidal
@TheGuardDuck yes I researched it.
Apparently true, but not sure.
Seriously?
It’s been two hours now and I’m still on this channel. Mean while I have a essay to write
Tarsiers are adorable and you'll never change my mind.
I love when he breaks character!
The commentary on this is legendary
Frank you are awsome. Thanks for the laughs. I needed it
This is the best narration I've ever heard on TheXvid.
