Pearl Jam- Do the Evolution (with Lyrics)

  • Do The Evolution (Lyrics)
    Artist: Pearl Jam
    Composer: Vedder/Gossard
    I'm ahead, I'm a man
I'm the first mammal to wear pants, yeah
I'm at peace with my lust
I can kill 'cause in God I trust, yeah
    It's evolution, baby

I'm at peace, I'm the man
Buying stocks on the day of the crash
On the loose, I'm a truck
All the rolling hills, I'll flatten 'em out, yeah
    It's herd behavior, uh huh
    It's evolution, baby

    Admire me, admire my home
Admire my son, he's my clone
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
This land is mine, this land is free
I'll do what I want but irresponsibly
    It's evolution, baby

    I'm a thief, I'm a liar
There's my church, I sing in the choir:
    (hallelujah, hallelujah)

    Admire me, admire my home
Admire my son, admire my clones
'Cause we know, appetite for a nightly feast
Those ignorant Indians got nothin' on me
    Nothin', why?
    Because... it's evolution, baby!

I am ahead, I am advanced
I am the first mammal to make plans, yeah
I crawled the earth, but now I'm higher
2010, watch it go to fire
    It's evolution, baby
    Do the evolution
Come on, come on, come on

    This song is awesome!!!

pearl jam is one of the greats and has been one of my bigest influences on me and my music,! i dont really care what his political view is,,,,, im not right or left,,, im just me,,,and im gonna do what makes me happy,,, but i do have friends that i grew up with that are liberals and with this wole gun thing going on has divided us because i love my guns,, i have a bunch of them,,, but i can remember us growing up as kids and we all basicly lived with one another and politics was never known between any of us,,, we all didnt have a care in the world,,,,,, now it seems like everyone is always fighting about somthing,, and everyone is divided some way or another! i dont know what went wrong with the world! :(

I LOVE that moment at 2:53 when the guitar wails and the drums drop out, like the song is almost starting to fall apart, and then comes together. I always picture a speeding car going up on two wheels as it whips around a curvy mountain road, and then dropping back down on all four as it zooms off.

This song is the perfect way to describe the greatness of our species. As a people we have become the apex predators of our planet and can bend its will to ours. Do not view this song as a song about Humanities destruction, but about its greatness and progress! Give up your feelings and morals and join in the march of progress for our great race!

There is an invisible set of gears that turn the wheels of time. Strangely enough we all have a hand on the crank. You, me, God (if he is considered), Satan (also considered), history, and progress itself are members. Through our ideals and our disputes we turn the gears. Now what chain of causality we all move to is uknown, there is no denying our actions affect it. It is up to us to decide on what we do, the decision you make personally is called Morality. Intriguingly enough, we are given a final reward based on our actions. I like to call it Karma in simpler words. I never cared for what the world decides, for I know it's evil. However we all had a hand in making it. In the end I only care for what karma and fate see me as.
