Can’t remember what I paid for mine but it sure wasn’t $80. Games suck. The classic nes with 8k games was a better deal. $150 and came with Wii U controller for the PS1 and 64 games.

I can't see the point of this when you can easily play all of these games plus more on your PC for free. You don't even need a gaming PC. Even a garbage PC can run them all just fine.

But dude, these companies need to start adding things for collectors a.k.a. the people who mainly buy them. I got out of that a while ago. I preferred food. But if you are gonna get people to buy add something more than a famiclone...

  • Clayton Goodman
    Clayton Goodman 16 days ago

Why cant it read the megadrive cards. I think that was such an awesome format. And it wouldn't be much for them to add. I think these companies need to start considering collectors

I got this as a birthday present from my wife but I won't be able to open it till my actual birthday in December. I've grown up with at least half of these games. it's an absolutely great buy. you got some amazing 16-bit games. going to keep busy for a long time .$80 in my book is a steel and it was all emulated by M2 so the quality is top-notch

BRUH... 80 duckets for this is nowheres nears a steep price point by any stretch of the imagination. Just 5 of these games are better gaming goodness than most of the cliche drivel that drops on current gen systems at 60 duckets plus! ALSO... the Sega Genesis was NEVER an underrated or underdog console. This is why millennials shouldn't be reviewing retro. You guys make unfounded statements based mostly on biased or just flat-out uninformed opinions. DO DILIGENT RESEARCH. Those of us O.G. players over 40 who LIVED this stuff know how things were, what the truth of the era is. PANSY

@Rick Hoes that sounds great! We were definititley masters, i could do a speed run w gameboy terminator 2 etc. thanks for sharing, , lets just embrace this, were into the collecting age maybe

    • Rick Hoes
      Rick Hoes Month ago +1

@pacoyhamch Ha, how bout that! My lineup of genesis games in my early collection was Golden Axe, Thunder Force II and Altered beast which everyone had. I was a master at each of those because It was what I had available to play whenever I fired up my Genesis. One friend of mine had Super Thunderblade, Ghouls n Ghosts and Last Battle. Likewise he was better at playing those than I. Another friend of mine had Space Harrier II, Revenge of Shinobi and Madden Football. Between all of us, we were each able to play the majority of the launch titles and some of the best of the new releases. Later additions to my personal library was Thunderforce III, Whip Rush, Wings of Wor, Phelios and Shadow Dancer. GOOD TIMES.

@Rick Hoes now that you mentioned it, yup trading worked really well, we all wanted to play more games, today we have too many games. And during that time, we were considered geeks for playing video games, now almost everybody plays video games, stupid masses

    • Rick Hoes
      Rick Hoes Month ago +2

@pacoyhamch for sure! Folks around my way had on average no more than 6 - 10 games tops for either their Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo. If you didn't share and trade, you just missed out on most of the best games of the era. I remember thinking back then at 30 - 50 duckets a game (70 for games with extra memory like Strider), my goal was to have an "extensive" library at 25 total games. Now with the mini, today you get Strider plus 41 other titles for just 80 duckets. That's a real value for sure. Especially when considering you could be wasting 100 duckets on the "special uber day one edition" of the 15th Call of Duty trash.

Yeah i agree games were so expensive back then especially when you are just a kid, i owned a snes and my best friend owned a genesis, we shared the hell out of it, good times

80 bucks is a fair price considering the detail put into the system in addition it comes with 2 controllers and a strong line up. A lot of reviewers love the system but they never fail to mention the 80 dollar price tag which shouldn't be a reason to buy this morsel of reteo goodness.

Here is my take, the build quality is great, the emulation is good, controllers are decent to good (depending if you played the original) 42 games to include 2 exclusives is worth probably a few hundreds if not more, interface is decent, save feature included, ability to play different versions with different covers including Asia and European releases is well thought out to give it an extra universal marketing edge. Whoever is complaining stick to your cartridges, nothing wrong with that. The U. S market is extremely diverse and I believe Sega genuinely took the time to keep everyone happy. Remember Sega has not built official hardware in a long while and looking at the attention to detail on this really hope they keep going. If you can afford it, I think it's worth that $80, if you can't that's O.k too.
