The foldable Royole FlexPai has a way to go

  • Published on Jan 9, 2019
  • The Royole Flexpai is officially the world’s first foldable phone, but its maker has achieved the feat by rushing the device out to market before it’s ready. The threat of Samsung and Huawei stealing the small company’s thunder was simply too much to resist, and that’s how we ended up with the unfinished, unpolished Flexpai at CES 2019.

I always thought the reason for removing the headphone jack was because of a limit on space, yet there's plenty here so why not include it???

I don't think this would be a good phone in stores because if you fold it in half, you fingers will touch the buttons on the other side and it will mess up what you are doing. 🤔

It's too clunky and jarring for daily usage and you're effectively doubling the cost of the phone. Most people aren't willing to sacrifice the simplicity and ease of use of a single screen for something so bulky and uncomfortable to use and carry.
Just because companies have the tech to fold screens doesn't mean it will translate into better products. That hinge needs to go. If they can't minimize it to the max and improve the design, it's never going to catch on.
