I'm sorry, but the surface pens are useless. I've tried them and they have such aggressive missclick prevention that you can't even open the start menu with the pen. I'd rather a dumb stylus that the screen thinks is a finger if the smart pen acts like that.

Does Microsoft Word have that you need so badly that Google Docs doesn't have?
and why does both Google and Apple hardware costs so much? They are both big powerful companies with lots of money, do they really need to charge an arm and a leg for their products? They would probably sell more quantity if their prices were more affordable

  • Michael Collins

for $1000 i can buy a pretty decent Windows Laptop and even game on triple A titles...oh and run a full Desktop OS. I remember when they started showing off Chrome OS years ago and i was super excited cuz i do love google innovation but once i tried it, i was super disappointed. Then they added Android App support which was cool too, until i tried it, it was a little better than an Android tablet but not worth buying one. I have a cheap laptop, a gaming desktop and an Android phone (Pixels), which is all i need. I do see this becoming awesome once Google Stadia comes out, that way you can play AAA titles on a chromebook for a small fee, but then I'd just save my money and buy a cheaper chromebook.
For now, i am sticking with my Phone and Desktop PC.

I could see this as a nice supplement to my desktop IF the total package were more polished. Even with the price drop nothing is going to make this a need to have. It's a want at best and I'd rather put the tech budget into keeping my computer and smartphone modern.

I'm sorry, but you missed a great opportunity in the end to please both audiences and sponsors. We know that the Pixel was thrown in the bin, and with it was a sponsored item (the ModMic). Down here in the comments a lot of people have noticed that. So here is my proposition:
In the outro, you go near the bin to, supposedly, pick up the Pixel (a glint of hope if you will). Instead you go for a water bottle... hmm, something's not quite right here.
Where did this bottle come from?? I didn't get it.
So, how about you go for the sponsored ModMic instead? It makes it much more believable that the Pixel would feel sad about this (despite it not being able to talk or emote) since we know that the ModMic is already there. This would make much more sense, it would also show that the ModMic is not as worthless as the pixel is shown to be.
I find that once you establish a joke, returning to it allows for a zinger that becomes entirely more clever and more funny. A TheXvidr who does this quite frequently is Scott The Woz, checkout his gaming (not tech) related videos, he does them effectively.

Alas, I'm just a viewer. I know you put A LOT of effort into your videos, the amount of time, effort and money spent, those sponsors really help I'm sure. I just thought I'd comment in my thoughts. I loved the other 13 minutes and 24 seconds though!

You guys should do a review on the Mobile Studio Pro 16 i7. :D
4k monitor, 8k pressure levels sensitivity pen, 3D sensor scanner, 512gb ssd, Quadro M1000M 4GB GDDR5. Also, it's running all on windows 10.
Also, I need a proper solution in making it more portable. I am liking your guys reviews on the Ipad, Surface, and this Chrome Slate, all of those have what I want but the pen and windows is a really big deal for me. The surface feels like you're using a crayon, and the iPad doesn't have that... what's that called? Easy access to my files. Also the pencil doesn't have a button to pan around 3D models. HOWEVER, all of these things have what I need; a longer battery life, lighter and more portable, probably some form of water resistant solution, and a case with a nice keyboard built in (the chrome thing looks sucky but still better than what I have now.) I'm petrified of transporting this thing anywhere even in a light mist of rain in my backpack under protective layers.
I am considering selling it and going back to my standard tablet and just try making either the surface or the ipad pencil work (the pen coupled with 4k display, and the usb3 ports are the only things keeping me on the fence about selling.)

iPad Pro: Best tablet ever; not so good for replacing a laptop for most people.
Surface Pro: Great laptop for having a tablet form factor, not so good at being a tablet.
Pixel Slate: Claims to be the best of both worlds, ended up being a huge ass lie.
Overall, this why 2 in 1s don't work. I've owned a 2 in 1 before, and I always just use the most developed part of that device, wasting the other flagship feature. It's better to just keep the product categories separate. Personally, I prefer for a company to simply increase the capabilities of one of the categories of the device and make it more versatile. Surprisingly enough, Apple is actually closer to this than Microsoft or Google. Their iPad Pro is by far the most versatile tablet ever created. It's not laptop-levels of versatility, but it is getting there, and hopefully iOS 13 does make it be like that versatile tablet that can be an alternative to many pros' laptops without heavy adjustments.
Google could have easily done this before Apple if they just optimized their Android apps to the hardware of the Pixel Slate and make Chorme OS more touch friendly. But no, they only did the half measure of slapping on the play store in to chrome OS, removed the keyboard and trackpad, and sold the device as a tablet that can be a laptop, assuming you buy the $200 keyboard cover. Honestly, Google simply doesn't try hard with hardware. They should really just stick to the search engine and their office features.

IPad: brilliant Tablet which could replace a PC if you are a light user. Has the best pen input. Can't use full desktop apps.
Pros: Peak Tablet perfection. Best Pen Input.
Surface Pro: powerful PC(not for gaming) which can be a good tablet for note taking and designing.
Pros: Full Windows functionality with a good pen input.
Pixel Slate: tablet with a shit keyboard. Pen input isn't as good as the iPad.
Has an OS which can be comparable to a
Desktop OS but is no where near the functionality of Windows or MacOS.
    Pros: _Crickets Chirping_
Cons: OS isn't as good as Mac OS or Windows for a fully desktop experience and it isn't Android for a better tablet experience. It tries to be a laptop and a tablet but fails at both
