  • You've waited patiently... and here it is! In part 2 all about hospital induction of labor, I talk through the 4 things we (your doctor, nurse, hospital) can do to induce your labor. How do we induce you? What does the induction look like? What are the side effects of the different techniques? What can you expect from your induction? Yes, cervidil, cytotec, foley balloon, pitocin and more - all discussed here! PS If you haven't watched part 1, make sure you do before you get to this video as this video builds on it! Enjoy! Is it possible to walk/move around after induction?

  • Micheala Young
    Micheala Young 3 days ago

I was induced at 40+6 due to no dilation or effacement. I had to have two rounds of Cervidil, two rounds of Cytotec, and the max dose of Pitocin. It took almost 56 hours. I took the Cytotec orally and i don't want it ever again. They did not tell me the risks of it or the fact that it is most commonly used for abortions which i am very much not okay with.

To hear Cervidil could possibly only cause 1 cm dilation after 12 hours is blowing my mind right now. I was induced with Cervidil with my first, and I was 10 cm dilated when my doctor arrived back at the hospital to check me around the 12 hour mark. My daughter was born an hour later.

My dr wants to induce me tonight I said no Friday I go in for a growth scan to see how big baby is etc .... and then he wants me going in on Sunday night I’d be 40 weeks Tuesday but he has no medical
Reason to induce me he’s just known for always inducing labor if it doesn’t come before 40 weeks I hope this baby comes on his own! 😫😫😫

    • Amanda Rodebaugh
Amanda Rodebaugh 8 days ago +2

Antimeny Fernandez my dr pushed and pushed for induction too. I told him I didn’t want to be induced and he said I needed to schedule it anyways, we scheduled it and I ended up having my baby on my own the night before my induction date. 40 weeks 5 days I had her. Your body will have the baby when it’s ready 😌

The risk with induction is c-section and cerveldil isn't suppose to be used on pregnant woman. Ever. Pitocin makes contractions worse, especially when the epidural fails.

    Another question:
Has anyone been 39 +4 weeks with 0% effacement , 0cm dilation, no contractions, back pains or signs of labor and have gone into labor naturally?

  • Maggie Marroquin
    Maggie Marroquin Month ago

Has anyone gone in to be induced at 0% effaced, 0cm dilated and had their body take over naturally? Example: maybe you went in, got the pill to soften your cervix and your body took over naturally after that point on? (Like there was no need to go through the rest of the steps)

Can you please mention the pain/discomfort level of these procedures?

    • Blinkies Blurbs
      Blinkies Blurbs Month ago

I had Cervafil, the balloon, and pitocin. By far the balloon was the worst. The balloon was very uncomfortable and made me have hot flashes and nausea while trying to insert it. The dang balloon fell out literally within 15 minutes which I took as a good sign, but was pissed off to have gone through the discomfort for that short of time.
      Cervadil literally no discomfort.
Pitocin the contractions, especially later stage, are more intense. The biggest annoyance is that they have to actively monitor the baby's heartbeat so you have to have the monitor strapped on either very regularly or permanently which makes it hard to move ONLY because depending on your belly shape it moves a lot and they can't track the heartbeat well or get worried about rate when it's actually fine. Can limit your movement that they allow if that is the case. Also the IV of course is annoying and can hurt depending on where they place it. Mine was very much on the side of my wrist so it was in an awkward spot when grabbing bars during contractions etc Haha.

I was induced, did 3 pills, pitocin, strong contractions..Dr. broke my water, was in labor for 30+ hours, stalled at 5 1/2 cm, ended up with an emergency C-section.. being induced was a terrible experience for my first pregnancy.

  • Camille Myrick
Camille Myrick 2 months ago +1

I had to flex and flow with my birth experience. I prepped for 9 months for natural labor and delivery and did not consider any other options, but now I'm scrambling to understand induction because I'm going in on Tuesday night to start the process. I never wanted an induction, but my confidence in my ability to birth naturally has been destroyed by my genetic predisposition to have BIG BABIES. My son is already large and my doctor said he was not budging until 41 weeks or after. The idea of him gaining weight for another 2 weeks crippled me with fear. I scheduled my induction for my EDD and I can actually sleep through the night now. I didn't realize just how much stress and anxiety I had been experiencing. When the process became clear, I completely released all that fear and I feel like this is the positive birth experience I didn't even know I needed.

Great videos! I'm 37 weeks and can't wait to go into labor and meet my baby 😤 😊
I have a question: when is it recommended to be induced (41+3? 42?) if everything is fine but you are just not going into labor spontaneously? I'm finding confusing information on this topic and on Friday my doctor said that we would discuss induction at my 40 week appointment (which is actually scheduled two days before my due date) if I hadn't given birth by then, and my midwife has already scheduled me for a first postpartum checkup during what would be week 41, so I'm feeling very confused about all of it. My understanding is that first time mothers go about a week past their due date anyway, so why these appointments and this rush? I feel like there is something I'm not understanding.

Thank you for this video and part one. I'm a ftm at 37 weeks 5 days. I have to get an induction at 39 weeks for medical reasons. I have polycystic kidney disease and they want to decrease the chance of me getting preeclampsia and C-section. I'm super scared because I wanted everything to happen naturally. breal8484 it can if its before 40 weeks and even then due dates are usually a little off especially if you found out you were pregnant late and have no solid dating for the pregnancy

Pitocin is the devil!!!! 😭😭😭 after two babies a year apart and being induced I don’t ever want to see pitocin again. With my daughter I also had two rounds of cytotec but my water always breaks after pitocin and I dilate REAL QUICK after my water breaks. I don’t think I made it an hour after the pitocin this last time before getting an epidural but I had been in labor for 16 hours at that point. To the mamas who do induction with no epidural....y’all the real mvp’s because just nahhh I can’t 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️

Is it typically easier to induce a second time mom whose had a previous successful vaginal birth? I've noticed a lot of stats online about inductions specify first time moms.

    • random chicks music
random chicks music 2 months ago

Katie HM I had an induction with my first he was actually late not that the doc or I knew that at the time. their determination of him being late was because he A) pooped on the doc B)he had none of the white creamy stuff(I have forgotten the name of it) and stuck and his skin tore a bit. he was fine but I found out late that I was pregnant at what the docs guessed was around 3 months maybe a bit older and their determination of his age via ultrasound changed at each one so they weren't sure how old he was

Going to be induced on Thursday 13/6/19 if he doesn’t come before then! I was totally excited to go into labour naturally so I’m desperately hoping I still get that chance. If I am induced I’m afraid I’ll go into it with a completely different mindset and it won’t be the experience I had been looking forward to. But as you always say- flex and flow ✌🏻this video has put my mind at ease as to the process and things I should expect which is sooo important to me. So thank you for that! I just hope that either way my baby is happy and healthy
