North Ealing - Least Used Piccadilly Line Station

  • Published on May 8, 2019
  • We're counting down the least used stations line by line on the London Underground, this time to the Piccadilly and the delight that i North Ealing.
You can download the Entry & Exit figures for all Tube Stations here: tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/underground-services-performance (although, it will obviously spoil the series for you if you look ahead at the figures!)
Note: The Waterloo & City Line won't be done, as it's only two two stations and it's figures are ridiculously high, because the stations are Waterloo and Bank.
There's scope though to do 'Least Used...' on the Overground, DLR and Trams.

My home station to go to uni in Uxbridge, I really like its feeling, quiet and calm and when it is raining it is chilled.

if you haven't, take a look at South Harrow where the station was moved, sort of.
During the 1930s upgrade the platforms were extended westwards and the Holden station buildings were constructed facing the road. The original station building was retained, and until closure, used as the Station Manager's office and train crew messroom.

Any idea when the Piccadilly line will have new trains? The current ones are 45+ years old and just terrible.

I always thought it was a bit daft that the Piccadilly took over the Ealing Common-Rayners Lane - I mean doesn't it seem daft having a line with two northern termini almost at opposite ends of the capital and going through a southward dip for most of its trajectory? That said, I like the idea of it taking over the Ealing Broadway spur.

My favourite station is North Ealing, not only because it's close to me but it's so calm and quiet and relaxed - you don't have to worry about your belongings as much as you would on any other station as it's not filled with passengers. It's also great how it's close to Central lines and district lines such as Ealing Broadway and West Acton! SO USEFUL.

Also i've been living near North Ealing for 16 years and I've used it very often and I HAVE NEVER SEEN THE TOILETS BEFORE WHATTT!
Also thanks for making a video on my favourite station

Geoff, how about a feature on other stations named for areas they aren't in or areas that don't exist e.g. Arsenal (as was) and also stations that have changed the name of the street they are on, for example, High Street Kensington station is actually on Kensington High Street.

So glad youtube recommended me your videos.. So cool to see.. I'm actually a driver on the Piccadilly line and it's fascinating see all these bits. When it comes to North Ealing I'm just in an out in a minute or so so have never seen all this stuff behind the scenes and what it's like outside the station. Very cool stuff

So there’s a labyrinth at every station on the Underground. My local station is Hainault on the Central line. Don’t think I’ve noticed it there. Mind you, whenever I go there’s usually a train waiting on the platform so I just get on it straight away.

The fifth least-used station on the entire network, and the least used within the Greater London boroughs. Probably beacuse there are several stations within a short distance with more frequent services, notably West Acton, Ealing Common and Ealing Broadway.
