but i am in that japan with no ground pin lol
Great stuff! That excitement when things finally work after troubleshooting...how rewarding does it feel, doesn't it? :-)
Every time I see him climbing over the table to get to the USB cards, I keep thinking he's going to fall and then, plot twist: Linus drops himself. Of course, I know this was over a year ago and it didn't happen, but still.
In Canadian winters where the humidity gets down to desert levels, grounding is critically important, 10k volt static shocks off simple doorknobs are the norm.
Yep. Something a lot of bosses seems to miss. The theory might sound good, but it never guarantees it'll survive practical application :P
Is FireWire dead in the video space these days?
One of my mainframes takes almost an hour to reboot.
This is equivalent to gg to a concert. This guy is so god dam good it that he can make a live show and explain why everything(mostly) happen. Like how a singer is able to be pitch perfect for every live concert.
Linus can you please get a Rat's Tail? Can someone put a bet in the office and make Linus lose so he has to have a Rat's Tail? 😂😂😂
you could try citrix virtual desktop(xendestop) with GPU passthrough to the virtual maschine and you can also passthrough USB direct from the client pc to the virtual maschine :) maybe try the nvidia tesla card with a server :)
I know this is super late, but I don't understand why Linus is saying you have to pass through a whole USB controller in order to get hot plug support in a VM.I use QEMU/KVM and I can simply pass through specific individual USB ports into my VMs and I can hot plug things into the port and they all work with the VM without rebooting. In other words, you shouldn't need to hardware pass through entire USB controllers to achieve hot plug support, you can simply pass through specific USB ports on their own into a VM and hot plug works just fine.
Just buy ninjas setup it’s only worth 100k
might be worth looking into telsa and nvidia..... they support nvidia grid and you wouldnt need to pass through entire cards and they could share the same card
It is so complicated. 😜
We get signal!! Main screen turn on!!
Why is it called 6 editors 1 cpu but there are 2 CPU’s is that the joke? I haven’t been keeping up
i have a question... you said rebooting takes FOREVER because of the hardware reinitializationwell, if you are running linux, cant you just do a KEXEC restart?
2:56 When he said "Virtualization" it made me think of Jeremy from Code Lyoko. No idea why. Maybe because the audio is delayed.
This is pretty cool and I've thought about something like this at home, but...if you have 6 or 7 people using this and the host crashes...how much work do you lose?
Idk if I missed this somewhere but how much ram is in this thing
Geinuine question: if you can pass individual USB devices into a VM, why couldn't you pass through a USB hub?
This live chat knows as much as my mom
My mb doesn’t even do post codes
what is that huge four screen monitor
This system would have been MUCH cooler wall mounted (no case) and blue leds. The desk pc is also worthy of this hardware.
You dont get MineCrsft you play Minecraft!
100,000 PC wait one while i describe what can be used with USB. gee thanks
So are there any updates on this build?
you know... ¯\_(ツ) personal appearance, (ツ)_/¯ play with computers
27:50 someone hungery
im sorry but full herpederp broke me
R.I.P. Asus motherboard #dirtylittleslot
The amount of stuff this guy shows in his videos... its amazing he doesn't get hacked every week
That was actually awesome.. n fun.. for me.. 🙏👌
4 quadro lol
Linus is an absolute mad lad. Great work looking forward to seeing this actually working and kicking ass
Pronounced as Kno
hey guys i can give you 8 p100 NVIDIA so that you can have all the same cards to make this work
I think credit should go to Operating System called Linux and KVM inventor which is the base of Unraid. IOMMU is the magic thing. Can you even think of it on HyperV or Vmware ?
Has there been a followup to this episode? I'd like to see the system fully assembled with all the VMs hooked up and running.
I literally just got a notification that you were live and I clicked on the notification and it took me to a livestream that was 3 months old wtf TheXvid. Great Video tho
In my country 100.000 dollars is a million in my currency
what happen with this???
a $100,000 PC and nothing works..
love the fact an American said "bloody hell"
The issue of spending huge sums of money on a killer PC, is that within a matter of months, your dream rig looks second rate, when even faster graphics cards are introduced.
50:24 " I'm troubleshooting!" said in a whiny voice like a child lol.
I disliked video just for the kicks.
I have no idea what your talking about Linus. Let me move to Canada and learn under your wing you intelligent falcon you.
Could u hot plug if ur run keyboards with the ability to plug usb in them?
is there a finish video yet?
When you have the time could you please do a tech review of Optical Computing starting with the Optalysys? Then a nice teaching moment for the parallela SBC?
stil just can not get over that case.. monster case. TEENY TINY mother board connected to basically firehoses lmao
This is inspiration for me to debug and solve the errors in my app great work man
50:10 The ground circuit in my home is constantly energized for some reason. I stay in the garage, and one day when moving my PC, I received a shock. I proceeded to do some testing, I don't trust my Harbor Freight multi-meter 100%, but it was reading positive voltage each time I touched a grounded metal surface with one probe and the other to actual ground. It quickly reduced to 0-0.1. I drove a rebar stake in the ground outside my window and ran a wire to it. I connected an LED for visual monitoring, then the other lead to a screw on the chassis. The LED has been illuminated since. Interestingly, the PC will not resume from standby if it sits for a while (overnight, or when I come home from work); only since connecting the new janky grounding rod. I have to turn it on with the power button and my session is lost. Something very intriguing is going on with the ground here.FWIW I "Reset" W10, trying to fix a mouse settings issue, but that didn't help the standby resuming, that is clearly a voltage/current leak. - PS I have a Corsair 650W power supply, so I think? I can trust it.
May we please have an update on this project?
