Pet Insurance | Is It Worth It? How Does It Work?

  • Published on May 27, 2019
  • I'm always getting questions about my fur-babies pet insurance :) that I thought it was time to make a video about it. I personally use Nationwide Pet Insurance and have nothing but positive experiences with the company. NO, I am not in anyway sponsored, endorsed or paid by Nationwide Insurance. Hope this video helped! Leave me a comment if I missed anything!

Okay, thank you for explaining this all. I even worked in a clinic for a while but never understood it! You made it simple and easy to explore into. I’m definitely going to get it for my cats and one of my dogs. My oldest dog probably is only going to be with us for a couple more years and honestly I can’t afford paying for all my family’s dogs 😅

Thank you for making this! We recently spent $2300 on a copperhead bite to the nose! I wish I’d had her insured.

I have insurance for my dog and hedgehog through nationwide too :) it’s been great to have since my hedgehog recently developed a neurological problem. My work actually has payroll deduction and a discount with nationwide so it was perfect. They’re the only company that covers hedgehogs.

Great topic! Interning at a specialty hospital in San Diego for 4 months I found that there are really not many people who even know pet insurance exists and if this became more normalized it would definitely prevent a lot of issues for patients and their families! And veterinary professionals as well

If you get your pet insured at a younger age say 3-4 before they have any preexisting conditions, then you will have probably paid a good couple grand in insurance before using any of it, so it "covers" any issues you have in future but basically they are using the money that you've already paid into it. Wouldn't it be just as beneficial to just start putting money into a savings account for your pet. I dunno if insurance companies really "save" anybody money when it comes to long term policies. Or maybe I just don't understand math lol."p

Great video! I've been debating on Nationwide for a while now but your video help me decide! What's your opinion on which plan to choose, Major medical or major medical with wellness?

This video was SO helpful! Signed up for this insurance. Turns out the whole pet, with wellness, the option is no longer available online. At least it wasn't for me in New York! Thank you again for this video

So good to see your smiling face! Quick question... do you know if insurance reimburses if you use Care Credit for pet expenses? Thank you for what you do!!!

hey :) thank you so much for the nice explanation. ONE QUESTION: Once signed up for a given pet insurance, can we switch pet insurance?? Do we have to stay with the same insurance once we sign up? Thanks :)

For labrador retrievers pet insurance is ~$30 per month which totals to ~$3,600 over 10 years.

I went for the whole pet with wellness with nationwide for my cat that is a year old and I am paying 40 dollars but I feel like it will totally be worth it. Thankyou so much for helping me understand what I was paying for and how it worked

I've been considering this for my 2yr old dog that is a sport dog (from a responsible breeder), primarily doing agility. I'd hoe I'd never need it but I've heard of preventative plans? I'm not really sure what that could entail if it might not cover beyond annual visits.

I know this video was a while back BUT we’re about to get our first fur-baby ❤️ and this is the insurance i found most appealing as well but as far as the deductibles go I’m confused, what happens once we meet our deductible? Is it like our medical insurance where we pay a coinsurance or ??? 🤷🏽‍♀️
