  • This is one of my mom's all time favorite Holiday Cookies. This Date Nut Pinwheel cookie made the Cookie trays. My mom used to make decorated boxes full of Christmas cookies and distribute them to everybody at school. Trust me that was a lot of boxes. I am one of 4 siblings and my mom was president of the PTA. Thinking back on it, she was pretty amazing!!!
She also made 25 fruit cake and shipped them out to all the family, but that is another story/video. Below are the ingredients for the Date Nut Pinwheels:
    3/4 pound dates
    1/3 cup white sugar
    1/3 cup water
    1/2 cup walnuts
    1/2 cup butter
    1 egg
1 cup brown packed brown sugar
    1/2 tsp vanilla
    1 and 3/4 cup flour
    1/2 tsp baking Soda
    1/4 tsp. salt

Hi Margie. What a lovely story about your Mother. My Grandma was a fantastic baker. She would make these for Christmas every year. She made lots of different types of cookies for Christmas and made tins and give each of our family's a tin to take home. It's one of my favorite memories of her and Christmas. Unfortunately my Mom and Aunt were terrible at baking. She always made these pinwheels and I always wondered how to make the filling until I saw your video. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful recipe. Have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving with your family. Sending Cali love. XOXO :)

Yes! I love to bake! I learned from watching my Grandma bake. I think they didn't bake because they both were divorced and had to work full time and probably didn't want to bake. Plus, my Grandma always gave each family a tin of her homemade cookies, fudge and candies. I have a playlist of cookies I make for Christmas on my channel.
