Hmm, it's been a while since I used the program, but I think the saving functionality relied on Google servers, and I don't think they support the program anymore. So I think the saving functionality doesn't work anymore, and you might have to export to a file on your computer instead. But I'm not sure.

This was such a touching and sad moment! I will definitely miss Robbie/Dorian. He was absolutely a great addition and while I am sad he is gone, I am glad he isn't a permanent member even so, because I want MORE GUESTS, especially with this longer running appearances. We'll definitely see Dorian again, my guess is it'll be a little ways off. We'll get more guests before Robbie returns. Maybe summer 2023 type timing? Also, I'd looooove to see Laudna's moment where she tried the party power move and unsettling presenced that lady who definitely seems like she is a member of the Chandei Quorum.

  • Breadly

The pacing of the first two episodes was definitely very fast. Which is very understandable to me, knowing the full story (well with what's been shared). Those 2 episodes probably encompass at least 20 hours of DnD session time. Probably 2 sessions worth for their pre-stream home games where they'd play for like 12 hours, whenever they could fit their schedules. They condensed that story down dramatically to make it work for the 2 episode special. Because the next 10 episodes are what they REALLY want to show, so I think we'll see the pacing match the actual live sessions. And I agree that the first episode was very much a: "HEY LOOK, THIS IS WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THIS SHOW, THIS KIND OF STUFF WILL ABSOLUTELY BE IN IT" and they kind of slap you in the face with it. While the second episode is more: "This is what to expect from that previous stuff and how it will be was used moving forward." The second episode I feel definitely sets the tone for expectations of the show, I think. They wrapped up their special story from pre-stream content, definitely a little quickly, so they could move on to the real meat of the show. I love that you haven't seen CR1, so you are coming in with a more unbiased view than myself. It's nice seeing those different perspectives!

@Jacob Does Stuff Yeah, fully agreed that the pacing was much more natural!! And we don't have to wait too much longer until episodes 4-6 come out! Wooooo!!!! And we get a new CR episode! It's a good week 🤣🤣

    • Jacob Does Stuff
Jacob Does Stuff 3 months ago

Yeah, I think we saw more natural pacing in episode three already, so I have big hopes for the rest of the season.

  • KickAsterisk
    KickAsterisk 3 months ago

I absolutely adore the show, however, the gross out humor in the beginning involving Keylith and a particular Dogman makes any reccommendations I inevitably give out come with a very strong warning. because some would see that particular moment and will stop watching the show right then and there. If anything, that's a great way to filter out the audience, if they can get past that scene they will have no trouble with enjoying the whole product. for me, they rolled a 19

    • Jacob Does Stuff
Jacob Does Stuff 3 months ago

You raise an interesting point in that it might make it harder for new people to watch the show, but I'm not sure that's a positive. I think it won't be a problem for people who've watched the streams, but it might make it harder for people who are just interested in the show itself. But I agree, the show so far has been very good, and I'm looking forward to seeing the next batch of episodes soon!

  • Cain Duvall
    Cain Duvall 3 months ago

All very fair points, and I'd agree with a lot of it! They had mentioned before the plan for the story of the first 2 episodes was making at most a 4 episode mini-series. Watching the video the cast released the day after the kickstarter went live and blew past all their original stretch goals in a matter of hours really shows off how they were trying to figure out what to do with the project when it so quickly grew past all of their expectations. After the dust settled, and they got set up with Amazon and the entire season set up, it does show a bit to my eye at least they ended up at an awkward middle point with this prestream story. Too much to pack into a single episode, but there's so much other stuff to put into the season they don't want to spend more than two with it. Honestly seeing the first three episodes fills me with excitement to watch more, the momentum is building and I wouldn't be surprised if this opening section turns out to be the weakest part of season 1 as a whole. That just means it's all uphill from here potentially!

    • Jacob Does Stuff
Jacob Does Stuff 3 months ago

I'm thinking the same thing! It seems like they wanted to get this out of the way, which, when you've got that much content to put in that little time, might have been a good idea! I think the rest of this season, and the rest of the show, is going to be even better!

I noticed that you didn't touch on campaign one as much (Which, is fair. Campaign 2 is a lot more organized) But I did want to bring up Percy because he's really fucking important to me and how I began to explore my own masculinity. Percy was my least favourite character when I started watching campaign 1. He was arrogant, self-involved, and from my perspective, basically emotionless. However comma, the deep passion and restraint that he revealed later on in the campaign pushed me to re-examine my feelings towards the character and masculinity in general, which lead to me realizing I wanted to present in a more masculine light. TL;DR: Percy De Rolo transed my gender, thanks Talesin Jaffe.

    • Jacob Does Stuff

Wow, thanks for sharing! It's amazing when stories and fictional characters can help us find out new things about ourselves, and that's what makes critical roles inclusivity so important!

  • triplebackspace
    triplebackspace 3 months ago

Think they did it on purpose , first to throw the kiddy animation preconceptions off , and then to establish the tone of the show and get all of the shock reaction out of the way so they can focus on the characters and story.

    • Jacob Does Stuff
Jacob Does Stuff 3 months ago

Yeah, I agree it's going to be a hit, and it should be, it's a great show! I haven't watched c1, so it might be different there, but the "adult" jokes felt less forced to me in c2 and c3 than they did in the first episode of this show. But I think episode 2 and 3 struck a great balance that's very reminiscent of the streams themselves

    • Phased TM
      Phased TM 3 months ago

@Jacob Does Stuff to be honest in regard to the 'adult' theme and humor, the players were indeed like this during the live stream. I love CR and this animated series so far, and I have watched ALL of the campaigns: 1 (Vox Machina), 2 (The Mighty Nein), Exandria Unlimited (DM'd by Aabria Iyengar instead of Matt) , and 3 (currently untitled since they haven't picked a party name yet), not to mention a bunch of one shots, Undeadwood and more.. The Legend Of Vox Machina will be a hit no matter what, being funded by the fanbase and totally creator made for them. Whether it draws in a larger audience remains to be seen, though all signs say 'yes' at the moment. They met the expectations of the fans with flying colors ... anything beyond that is just gravy. Currently at 100%/94% on Rotten Tomatoes.

    • Jacob Does Stuff
Jacob Does Stuff 3 months ago

And with the way they did episodes 2 and 3, I must say it worked. The "adult" elements were incorporated in a much better way in those episodes I think

I absolutely loved the date and the way it ended was perfectly hilarious! While I love Pretty, and hope to continue seeing him throughout the campaign, I am glad it won't be a running theme of them dating him haha!

I was debating it, but in the end I decided on cutting it. It didn't feel essential, and every extra little thing is a lot of work.

They just needed to distract him for a few minutes and accidentally gave him the best day of his life.

Ah, okay! That's so fun, I love when they include references like that, even if I don't always get them haha

@Jacob Does Stuff I think Pretty's name was a reference to Darrington Brigade one-shot, when Liam's character, orc named Buddy, was often saying "you're pretty" to strangers and his companions.
