Tec Diving: Ghost net removal
Views 52111 months ago
Partial removal of this huge ghost net at 50m! Mission was continued and the complete net was retrieved. GhostNets are fishing nets that have been lost, abandoned or discarded at sea. These nets can still cause huge damage to the environment. Ghost nets cause damage by entangling live coral, smothering reefs and introducing parasites and invasive species into reef environments. Every year they ...

Views 187Year ago
Recently, we have been witnessing portions of local reefs along Neg Oriental being affected by bleaching. The changes among these corals have only occurred over the last month. We are hoping that most of these colonies will be able to recover. However some, as shown in the video are sadly already dead.

Jellyfish Beauty - Philippines
Views 67Year ago
Jellyfish are a major part of the phylum Cnidaria. They are mainly free-swimming marine animals with these beautiful umbrella-shaped bells and trailing tentacles. As shown in the video, the bell can pulsate to provide propulsion and highly efficient, stunning locomotion. Notice the tiny symbiotic fish living amongst the tentacles and bell. These tentacles are armed with stinging cells which can...

One of the most important aspects of our work is not only to teach our students how to dive but to educate and guide them towards becoming ambassadors of the underwater world. Would you like to experience being surrounded by MILLIONS of fish?! This is beautiful Moal Boal. Having dive in many wonderful places, being surrounded by these sardines was definitely nearing the top of my list. We also had wonderful company 💛. Not only amazing marine life here, but the beauty on land is also pretty spectacular.
Spanish Dancer - Philippines

A huge beautiful Spanish Dancer (Hexabranchus sanguineus) making its way along the reef. These gorgeous creatures can grow up to 40cm. This giant nudibranch was 32cm in length and, not too far away, another 10 individuals were in the area meeting to mate.
Swimming Frogfish
Views 114Year ago
Cruising through life... These weird but wonderful animals have frog like hands that help them walk along the sea bed. It's uncommon to see them swim, but when they do, they use jet propulsion. One of my favourite characteristics of Frogfish is their cute grumpy faces! This is a giant frogfish (Antennarius commerson) cruising around Apo Island (Philippines).
