When this is all over, I will miss your updates John. Your objective and unbiased review of the data and the science has been second to none. I hope you will continue to make health related videos as I'm sure your many fans will enjoy hearing your informed perspective. If only all public health officials were as sharp and honest as you. You have won my undying respect. Well done, Doc.

I went to an event last week (first large event since COVID started) in the US and I know at least 15 people who went to it who are positive for COVID now, only one of whom has reported their positive cases to the authorities (half the states aren't taking home test data anymore). Cases in the US are def. way higher than being reported, we'll have to see what that does to hospitalizations/deaths in the next week or so.

Its hard to trust the statistics as far as death goes, when its known that the hospitals were getting paid to list their deaths as Covid 19; I've heard too many stories to count from families that talk about how their loved ones died from XYZ reasons having nothing to do with covid, but yet covid is listed as the cause of death on the certificate. If you've died from a car accident, but when they test you and find you had covid in your system when you died, they list it as a covid death. People that had been battling aggressive cancers, that were at the end of their life fighting it, they were listed as covid deaths. I think before you can take their death toll seriously, you have to properly assess what is a covid death; and separate those whom died with covid versus those who died from covid.

We are over Covid in South Africa even if our government is not. Yes it is winter and for the first time in two years, head colds, chest colds, coughs, sore throats, sniffles, running noses and plain old flu abound as it did for every year before Covid. Who cares if it tests positive as Covid, if it is not going to go away after 80% of the population has had it and recovered from it, then it will never go away and we can do absolutely nothing about it. Only the rich and public servants on unlimited medical aid schemes can afford repeated testing, for the rest of us we no longer bother.
